Job overview
This is an hourly manufacturing role based in a plant setting. The position focuses on keeping the processing and production areas sanitary, maintaining overall building cleanliness, sanitizing machinery and equipment when needed, and tracking scrap totals and variances on visual management boards. The job also includes additional duties as assigned.
Key duties
- Receive work instructions from the lead or supervisor and clean floors, walls, equipment, and related parts as needed.
- Use foaming systems and high-pressure washing equipment in line with the assigned work instructions.
- Follow MSDS guidance and approved handling practices when working with cleaning chemicals.
- Sweep floors with a push broom and remove any standing water.
- Clear debris from work areas and dispose of it correctly, including use of cleaned trash containers.
- Collect and remove trash and waste materials such as boxes, plastic, packets, damaged goods, damaged skids, bag ties, and similar items from assigned areas.
- Handle and replace chemicals and chemical drums safely.
- Move pallets and other equipment safely using material-handling equipment.
- Cross-train in other sanitation functions as needed.
- Carry out other tasks assigned by management.
Physical demands
- Frequent standing and walking are required.
- The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs maximum and to frequently lift or carry up to 25 lbs.
- Work may involve extended time on your feet, repeated motions, bending, and stooping.
Experience and skills
Success in this role calls for practical experience in food production and/or sanitation, along with familiarity with production activities, equipment, and quality expectations that support product safety and consistency. Strong verbal and written communication skills are important, as is the ability to quickly identify problems and respond with sound judgement.
