Job description

About Lyterian Therapeutics

Lyterian Therapeutics is focused on creating medicines for patients who need better options by harnessing naturally occurring protein quality-control pathways to influence genetically validated targets.

Role overview

As a Scientist in Biology, you will plan, run, analyze, and troubleshoot cell-based screening assays that support the company’s protein degradation discovery platform. The role also contributes to target characterization and mechanism-of-action work for early research and discovery efforts. You will work closely with protein biochemistry, biophysics, and molecular biology teams to better understand the biology behind selective control of protein homeostasis.

What you will do

  • Plan and carry out cellular experiments that answer scientific questions and help move programs toward critical milestones.
  • Develop, optimize, and operate medium- to high-throughput cell-based screening workflows.
  • Analyze results and communicate findings clearly in internal meetings and at external scientific conferences.
  • Generate, maintain, and work with multiple cell lines.
  • Apply automation, high-content imaging, and/or flow cytometry to advance the proprietary platform.
  • Work across scientific disciplines and communicate effectively to support team objectives.

What we are looking for

  • A relevant PhD plus 0 to 2 years of industry experience; postdoctoral experience can count toward this, and equivalent experience may be considered in place of formal education.
  • Strong hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture, including transfection and transient or stable recombinant protein expression, CRISPR/Cas9 editing, plasmid construction, and siRNA/shRNA knockdown.
  • Experience operating assays on automated liquid-handling systems such as Bravo, epMotion, or Tecan platforms.
  • Comfort with sterile technique and maintaining high-throughput cell-based assay systems.
  • Exposure to fluorescence and luminescence readouts and high-content microscopy is preferred.
  • Experience handling high-throughput data analysis and related workflows is an advantage.
  • Prior work with CRISPR screening or other genome-editing methods is beneficial.
  • Background in molecular biology methods such as in vitro enzymatic assays, immunoprecipitation, qPCR, western blotting, FACS, IHC, ELISA, or HTRF is a plus.
  • Strong record-keeping habits with the ability to document protocols and results thoroughly.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities, communicate clearly, work well in departmental teams, and build collaborative relationships.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and willing to contribute in a fast-moving startup environment.

Compensation and benefits

Compensation is determined by experience, qualifications, internal equity, and location. The package includes an annual bonus, meaningful equity, and a strong benefits offering with medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and their families, along with a 401(k) match.

Equal opportunity and accommodations

Lyterian Therapeutics is committed to a diverse, inclusive, and respectful workplace. Hiring and advancement decisions are made without regard to protected characteristics under applicable federal, state, and local laws. Reasonable accommodations are available for qualified individuals with disabilities in line with legal requirements.

Additional notes

Unsolicited resumes sent by external recruiters before a formal agreement do not create any implied obligation. The company may use AI tools during parts of the hiring process, such as resume review or application analysis, but final decisions are made by people. Candidates of all experience levels are welcome to apply, and the company notes that there is often flexibility in both title and responsibilities.
