Job description
Role Overview
This full-time onsite sanitation position is based at the Blairsville hatchery in Blairsville, Georgia. The role focuses on cleaning and sanitizing hatchery areas and equipment while supporting daily production operations in a biosecure environment.

Key Duties
- Disinfect hatchers, setters, trays, racks, buggies, and related hatchery equipment.
- Use both high-pressure and standard water hoses to clean hatchery equipment.
- Check and log temperatures in hatchers and setters.
- Keep foot pans and hand sanitizers stocked and maintained.
- Operate equipment such as the macerator and tray washer.
- Handle tray work, egg setting, chick pulling, chick counting, packing, and unpacking eggs as needed.
- Maintain a neat, orderly, and sanitary work area.
Work Schedule
Shifts typically begin between 4:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. The schedule may change based on production needs. Work may include Sundays through Thursdays, Saturdays, and holidays, and the role generally averages 40 hours per week.
Biosecurity and Animal Welfare
This facility operates under strict biosecurity rules. Entry requires showering and changing into approved clothing and footwear, which are provided by the company. Jewelry is not permitted on site except for medical ID jewelry, and any body piercings must be fully covered. The selected candidate must agree to avoid contact with avian species such as chickens, ducks, and birds, and must follow all company biosecurity and animal welfare rules.
Physical and Environmental Conditions
The job requires safe lifting practices and the ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs, push or pull 500 to 1000 lbs, and perform overhead lifting. Team members must work on wet and slippery surfaces and remain on their feet for most of the shift on a concrete floor. The role also involves walking, sitting, bending, stooping, reaching, balancing, and using hands to handle tools and controls. Required visual abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, along with focus adjustment.
Work conditions may include hot, dry, dusty, wet, and cold environments. Common equipment includes a high-pressure hose. Required protective gear includes safety glasses, safety goggles, a face shield, chemical gloves, a waterproof apron, and rubber boots when handling chemicals. Ear plugs and earmuffs may be used as needed. Chemicals in use at the facility include formaldehyde, disinfectants, lubricants, and Virocid. Safety compliance is required across hazard communication, respiratory protection, lockout/tagout, and personal protective equipment procedures.
Hiring Notes and Employment Conditions
Priority will be given to internal applicants first. Candidates with agricultural or production experience are preferred. Applicants must live in the United States to be considered for an interview.
Employment history requirements include at least 12 consecutive months with one employer and no employment gaps longer than 6 months in the past 36 months. If a gap was due to layoff or caregiving for a child or elder, the allowed gap may extend to 18 months. This work-history rule does not apply to applicants who have been full-time students continuously for the last 36 months.
Rehire eligibility requires a minimum waiting period of 180 days, and an individual may not have worked for Cobb/Tyson Foods more than 3 times.
The role is nonexempt, reports to the Sr Supervisor Hatchery, and is assigned to the 1st shift in the United States. Some positions may require a background check after an offer is made. Hourly applicants must complete an additional task after submitting the application in order to be considered.

Compensation
The starting pay is $17.00 per hour, with additional shift differential for evenings, nights, and weekends.
