Role overview

Lamb Weston is seeking a full-time Sanitation II for its Taber, Alberta facility. This hourly position is part of a large global food manufacturer known for producing fries and other food products enjoyed in more than 100 countries. The team operates with a strong focus on food safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

What you will do

In this role, you will carry out a broad range of sanitation activities to help keep the plant clean, safe, and ready for production. The work is physically demanding, often repetitive, and may take place anywhere in the facility. You will support production goals by maintaining sanitation standards and using proper equipment and procedures.

  • Follow safe work practices at all times.
  • Use sanitation tools, supplies, and high-pressure water equipment to clean assigned areas.
  • Handle cleanup tasks at the end or start of production runs.
  • Complete all mandatory company training and the role-specific training program.
  • Find and use safety equipment, systems, and stations correctly.
  • Use personal protective equipment as required.
  • Learn the safe handling and use of sanitation chemicals used in the plant.
  • Promptly report mechanical or electrical issues to a Production Team Leader and the maintenance team.
  • Maintain, complete, and sign required records and administrative forms.
  • Remove foreign material when found and immediately alert the Production Team Leaders if glass or metal is discovered.
  • Communicate effectively with the Sanitation Leader and Production Team Leaders.
  • Work with colleagues across departments to help teams succeed.
  • Support sanitation programs, standards, and other assigned duties.

Working conditions

This job uses a rotating 12-hour shift pattern from 7:00 to 7:00, averaging 42 hours per week. You must be available for nights, weekends, and statutory holidays. The role involves long periods of standing, frequent use of hands and arms, and manual work in a fast-paced production environment.

Physical demands and environment

You will regularly stand, walk, reach, handle materials, talk, hear, and use your sense of taste or smell. The job also requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Lifting requirements include up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally. The work environment may include wet or humid conditions, moving machinery, chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, loud noise, and occasional exposure to cold, heat, outdoor weather, high places, and electrical hazards.

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate brings a safety-first mindset, a strong focus on food quality, and familiarity with food safety programs and standards. You should be comfortable working with others, communicating clearly with people from diverse backgrounds, and taking a practical, hands-on approach to solving problems. Experience in manufacturing is helpful, especially in roles that balance customer and business needs.

Education and experience

A high school education or equivalent is required. At least one month of related work experience or training is needed, and one year of steady work experience is preferred. You must obtain and keep WHMIS certification; the company will provide the training.

Language and communication

You should be able to read and understand safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The role also requires the ability to read MSDS sheets, short memos, simple instructions, and correspondence, as well as write simple correspondence and present information clearly in one-on-one or group settings.
