Job description
Role overview
Tesla Energy is hiring a Sales Data Analyst to support the Business Operations function in Palo Alto, California. This position partners with the Americas Sales and Sales Operations teams to help the business deliver quarterly goals across Powerwall, Wall Connector, Solar Roof, and other Tesla Energy offerings.
The role centers on strengthening the analytics foundation used for sales decisions. That includes building and supporting production-grade data pipelines, querying databases with SQL, conducting statistical analysis and predictive modeling in Python, and turning raw data into reporting, insights, and recommendations. The position also requires close partnership with Residential Energy stakeholders, especially Sales and Sales Operations, to convert ambiguous business questions into practical outputs that support growth and execution.
In addition, the analyst will work with cross-functional groups to improve sales enablement, operational planning, executive reporting, and funnel optimization. As the reporting specialist for sales and sales operations, this person will help shape critical dashboards and analytical outputs, while also supporting global analytics work such as data mapping, validation, and quality assurance.
Key responsibilities
- Query and refine SQL in the data warehouse to support reporting, ad hoc analysis, and downstream models.
- Build production Python solutions for statistical work, predictive modeling, and feature engineering, then translate findings into business actions.
- Create and maintain data pipelines using Airflow or similar tools for both new and existing KPIs, with solid version control, code review, and documentation in shared GitHub repositories.
- Deliver accurate, timely, and useful sales reporting and analysis that supports Tesla Energy’s commercial performance against defined metrics.
- Develop, maintain, and improve core Sales and Sales Operations reports while protecting data quality as the business evolves.
- Work closely with sales, finance, planning, and other stakeholders to gather input and incorporate diverse business perspectives.
- Simplify and combine reports where possible so they are easier to use and better aligned to business needs.
Requirements
- A degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Analytics, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- At least 2 years of experience working with SQL and other query languages.
- At least 1 year of experience using Python in a production setting; exposure to libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, and Matplotlib is preferred.
- Familiarity with data processing platforms such as Apache Airflow.
- At least 2 years of experience with BI and visualization tools such as Tableau and Microsoft BI, plus advanced Excel modeling skills.
- At least 2 years of business analytics experience, with prior exposure to Sales, Sales Operations, or Logistics Operations strongly preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with a broad range of stakeholders.
