About the Role
Gaylor Electric, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Safety Technician to implement and enforce comprehensive safety programs and procedures. The primary goal is to minimize work-related accidents and injuries through proactive prevention strategies. This role reports to the assigned Project Manager, with guidance from the corporate Safety Director. Occasional travel may be necessary.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute an accident prevention program, including a training plan, to align with project-specific safety requirements.
- Identify necessary safety work permits and ensure strict adherence to project contract stipulations.
- Perform timely incident investigations and generate comprehensive reports.
- Analyze the outcomes of safety initiatives using various data sources to determine and implement corrective actions.
- Manage and oversee the company's 'Tool Box Talks' program, selecting and distributing relevant topics for regular presentations.
- Engage in loss control activities, addressing employee injuries, health claims, equipment and material damage, job site security, and employee safety training.
- Support the enforcement of company safety policies, procedures, and special projects.
- Generate statistical reports as required and maintain all essential records and files for reporting and auditing purposes.
- Address and resolve safety-related inquiries and situations directly.
- Prepare, compose, and distribute correspondence, memoranda, presentation materials, and reports.
- Collaborate with the Education Department on safety training, OSHA compliance, and safety certifications.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of job sites.
- Potentially act as a liaison with community or external agencies concerning company/department activities and needs.
- Effectively organize and prioritize tasks to meet established deadlines.
- Respond to safety-related questions, provide necessary information, or direct inquiries appropriately.
- Assist the Safety Director with presentations and the organization of company events.
- Undertake other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Possess any required state-specific licenses.
- Hold a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent educational background and/or work experience.
- Demonstrate prior experience in safety management or administration.
- Possess a solid understanding of construction industry OSHA regulations, compliance, and record-keeping standards.
- Exhibit strong administrative, organizational, and communication capabilities, along with computer proficiency.
