Role Overview
Air India SATS Airport Services Private Limited (AISATS) is hiring a Safety Executive in Delhi for its Safety & Quality function. AISATS is a 50:50 joint venture between Air India Limited, part of the TATA Group, and SATS Ltd., a major global air cargo handler and one of Asia’s leading airline catering companies. The organisation delivers a wide range of ground handling services, including passenger and baggage handling, ramp support, aircraft interior cleaning, load control, flight operations, and cargo handling for general, perishable, transshipment, express courier, and special cargo.
The Safety Executive (E1) will assist the Safety Manager in maintaining safe, efficient, and compliant daily operations. This position focuses on monitoring ramp and terminal activity, spotting hazards, documenting unsafe conditions, supporting incident investigations, and strengthening the Safety Management System (SMS). The role serves as a connection point between operational teams and the Safety function, helping build proactive safety habits and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Observe operational areas to detect unsafe actions, hazardous conditions, and departures from SOPs.
- Gather accurate factual details on safety breaches, hazards, accidents, and near-miss events.
- Act as the communication bridge between operations teams and the Safety Department.
- Take part in, or independently carry out, incident investigations including root cause analysis.
- Prepare investigation reports and include recommended corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Help ensure that operational teams consistently report accidents, incidents, and near misses.
- Support investigations related to operational events whenever required.
- Escalate unsafe or unusual situations to the Safety Officer or Safety Manager without delay.
- Track staff activities and flag unsafe conduct for corrective action.
- Assist with audits, inspections, toolbox talks, and safety awareness drives.
- Contribute to SMS records, documentation, and compliance reporting.
- Support the rollout of safety training and awareness communication.
- Carry out additional tasks assigned by the Safety Manager as needed.
- Help plan and coordinate emergency response drills, exercises, and tabletop simulations.
- Be accountable for the safety, quality, and security of operations in assigned areas.
- Report any safety, security, or operational non-compliance to the relevant supervisors.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a recognised university.
- Additional certifications in SMS, QMS, NEBOSH, IOSH, Industrial Safety, or Aviation Safety are preferred.
- At least 12 months of experience in civil aviation.
- Ramp supervision experience will be an added advantage.
- Strong computer proficiency is mandatory.
- Good physical fitness and stamina suitable for airside work.
- Strong spoken and written English communication skills.
- Good people management and supervisory capability.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication ability.
- Comfortable working as part of a team and coordinating across functions.
- Able to work with digital reporting and tracking systems.
- Capable of supporting incident investigations and following up CAPA closure.
- Professional, disciplined, and positive in approach.
