About the role
The Rostering and Scheduling Officer will be responsible for making sure the right staff are scheduled in the right place at the right time. This position sits within a busy aged care setting and requires balancing service continuity, workforce needs, compliance obligations and unexpected staffing changes.
This opportunity suits someone who enjoys solving problems, works well in a highly organised way, and understands how important accurate rostering is in aged care or other healthcare environments.
Key duties
- Create and maintain precise and effective staff rosters that support quality service delivery.
- Align schedules with care plans, service agreements and staffing needs.
- Handle urgent roster changes, including sudden leave and short-notice shift coverage.
- Work with internal teams to improve workforce utilisation and maintain continuity of care.
- Use rostering tools and technology to make scheduling more efficient.
- Communicate professionally and clearly with staff, managers and other stakeholders.
- Contribute to operational success through forward planning and practical problem-solving.
What you need to bring
- Experience in rostering, scheduling or workforce coordination, preferably in aged care, healthcare, disability services or a similarly complex setting.
- Strong organisation and problem-solving capability, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
- A calm, practical and solution-oriented approach when managing time-sensitive changes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with confidence working across different stakeholder groups.
- Comfort using rostering systems, Microsoft Office and related workplace technology.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately in a fast-moving environment.
- A proactive team mindset and an understanding of how rosters support quality care outcomes.
Benefits and rewards
- Not-for-profit salary packaging of up to $15,900 each year.
- Meal and entertainment benefits of up to $2,650 annually, tax free.
- 17.5% leave loading on annual leave.
- Paid parental leave of 9 weeks for eligible employees.
- Cultural leave days for eligible employees.
- Access to ForME!, an employee benefits platform offering discounts, financial tips and wellbeing resources.
- Discounts on private health insurance with Medibank.
- Employee Assistance Program support.
- Fitness Passport membership access with reduced-rate gym and pool options for employees and their families.
