Job description
Role overview
This position sits at the core of the UAE rollout for a food-tech business that develops autonomous robotic kitchens. The company is extending its operations across the Gulf, using the UAE as the launch base, and is hiring a local technical specialist to keep kitchen systems performing reliably across the region.
As the Robot Kitchen Technician for Operations & Maintenance, you will take ownership of day-to-day running, servicing, and commissioning of robotic kitchen equipment in the UAE. You will be the main point of contact when technical issues arise, while also creating the local spare-parts inventory and warehouse setup from the ground up to improve uptime and readiness.
This is a hands-on foundation role with close coordination across Product, Hardware, and Software teams. It is strictly for candidates already living and working in the UAE; applications from outside the country will not be considered.
Operations and maintenance
- Run and oversee robotic kitchen systems during production hours, including startup, shutdown, and routine operational inspections.
- Set up and technically support new customer locations across the UAE and the wider GCC.
- Carry out preventive maintenance and check robotic, mechanical, electrical, and sensor-based systems.
- Identify and repair mechanical, electrical, and automation-related faults on site, escalating advanced issues to the Munich engineering team when required.
- Handle equipment failures, investigate the cause, and apply corrective fixes.
- Support software updates, system improvements, and calibration work under engineering guidance.
- Keep accurate service logs and technical records to aid ongoing improvement.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and safety rules, including lockout/tagout procedures.
- Train operators and share technical knowledge as the UAE team expands.
Inventory and supply chain
- Build and manage the UAE spare-parts store and technical warehouse from scratch.
- Set minimum stock thresholds for critical components so maintenance needs can be met without delay.
- Work with Munich-based engineering and supply chain teams on replenishment planning, lead times, and new part requirements.
- Source local and regional suppliers for consumables and components and develop vendor relationships where useful.
- Track inventory, tools, and equipment across warehouse and field locations.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate is based in the UAE and brings 2 to 5 years of practical experience maintaining and operating automated equipment, robotics, or industrial machinery. A technical diploma or degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or a related discipline is expected.
You should understand electrical systems, sensors, actuators, motors, and pneumatics, and be able to interpret technical drawings and schematics. Experience with PLC-controlled systems and HMI interfaces is important, along with a background in spare-parts inventory, technical warehousing, or a similar supply-chain function.
The role suits someone who works independently, stays organised, remains calm under pressure, and pays close attention to safety and detail. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are needed, along with the willingness to travel within the UAE and across the region. English fluency is required in both writing and speaking; Arabic is an advantage.
Additional experience preferred
- Background in food production, commercial kitchens, or food-tech operations.
- Knowledge of UAE technical standards or import and customs procedures for spare parts.
- Experience establishing inventory or warehouse processes in field-service or industrial settings.
- Previous work in a fast-scaling, multicultural environment.
What the company offers
- A competitive compensation package based on experience, plus a performance-linked bonus.
- Full UAE employment visa sponsorship for you and immediate family, including transfer support from your current sponsor.
- Comprehensive private health insurance for you and your dependents, aligned with UAE regulations.
- 30 calendar days of paid annual leave, UAE public holidays, and an annual home-flight allowance.
- End-of-service gratuity in line with UAE Labour Law.
- A monthly mobility allowance.
- Annual learning budget, in-house training, and development opportunities as the business grows across the GCC.
- An on-site work setup with regular presence at UAE kitchen sites and client locations, with no relocation required.
Important hiring note
This opportunity is only open to local hires currently residing and working in the UAE. Applicants from outside the country will not be considered at this stage.
Why this role matters
You will be among the first technical hires in the UAE operation, helping define how the company’s robotic kitchens are maintained and scaled for a fully automated future in food production.
