Job description
About SYSTRA
SYSTRA is a global engineering and consultancy organisation focused on public transport and sustainable mobility. The group employs more than 10,300 people and works to create safer, more sustainable transport systems that improve access to jobs, education and leisure while supporting social inclusion. For 65 years, SYSTRA has partnered with cities and regions to shape, upgrade and modernise infrastructure and transport networks across the full project lifecycle — from early design through testing, deployment and maintenance. Operating in more than 80 countries and generating 74% of its revenue internationally, the company also helps clients navigate digital, ecological and energy transition challenges to build the mobility of the future.
Role Overview
SYSTRA is looking for a highly seasoned Risk Manager to support a prestigious project in Saudi Arabia. This role calls for extensive experience in managing risks for major infrastructure programmes, especially within transport-related environments.
Key Duties
- Identify potential threats to the project early, covering financial, operational and safety-related exposures.
- Carry out detailed risk evaluations using both numerical and judgement-based methods to understand probability and impact.
- Design and put into action mitigation plans that reduce the effect of risks on project delivery.
- Track risks on an ongoing basis and review whether control measures remain effective, updating the risk plan when required.
- Prepare and deliver regular risk updates to stakeholders, including senior leaders and outside partners.
- Ensure the risk approach aligns with applicable standards and regulations, including ISO 31000 or AS4360.
- Train project team members on risk processes and good practice, and provide practical support where needed.
- Work closely with stakeholders so they understand key risks and the actions being taken to address them.
- Keep complete records of risk reviews, mitigation actions and monitoring reports.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should bring at least 15 years of risk management experience on large-scale infrastructure or mega projects, preferably in the transportation sector. A background of more than 12 years in managing risks for major infrastructure work is highlighted in the context. The role requires fluency in Arabic and English, familiarity with Saudi Arabia’s regulatory and operating environment, and a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or an equivalent qualification. A bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management, business administration or a related discipline is required, with an advanced degree preferred.
Equal Opportunity
SYSTRA states that it is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all eligible candidates.
