Job description

Role Overview

The Rights Protection Supervisor will be instrumental in overseeing and executing commercial rights protection strategies for major events. This role involves the planning, coordination, monitoring, and enforcement of activities designed to safeguard intellectual property, sponsorship exclusivity, licensing rights, and event branding. The supervisor will actively work to prevent unauthorized commercial activities, ambush marketing, counterfeit goods, and other infringements. Collaborating closely with the Rights Protection Manager, operational teams, government bodies, venue operators, and commercial stakeholders, this position ensures adherence to rights protection policies throughout the event's lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the execution of the Rights Protection Programme across all event venues, host cities, and designated sites.
  • Aid in identifying and monitoring any unauthorized commercial activities, ambush marketing tactics, counterfeit merchandise, and intellectual property misuse.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of venues and sites to verify compliance with clean site, clean venue, and clean zone regulations.
  • Provide operational support for rights protection during event activities, including surveillance of public areas, commercial zones, and surrounding venue perimeters.
  • Liaise with venue management, security staff, local authorities, and other operational stakeholders to address rights protection needs.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all rights protection incidents, observations, investigations, and enforcement actions undertaken.
  • Assist in the investigation and documentation of potential rights violations, preparing detailed incident reports for management review.
  • Review proposed commercial activities and promotional campaigns to ensure they align with commercial rights regulations.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of awareness and training sessions for staff, volunteers, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders on their rights protection responsibilities.
  • Oversee compliance with sponsorship, licensing, and branding guidelines within operational zones.
  • Support reporting efforts, including daily operational updates, compliance assessments, and post-event evaluations.
  • Escalate significant rights protection issues and emerging risks to the Rights Protection Manager promptly.
  • Assist in coordinating corrective measures and follow-up actions for identified infringements.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Law, Business Administration, Commercial Management, Sports Management, Marketing, or a closely related field is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in rights protection, commercial compliance, brand protection, intellectual property management, event operations, or sponsorship activation is necessary.
  • Prior experience working on large-scale events such as sporting events, exhibitions, festivals, or major public gatherings is highly desirable.
  • A solid understanding of intellectual property rights, sponsorship protection, licensing agreements, trademarks, and commercial compliance principles is essential.
  • Previous experience conducting inspections, compliance monitoring, or operational audits would be beneficial.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, reporting, and administrative capabilities are required.
  • The ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced operational setting is crucial.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in Arabic is considered an advantage.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting rights protection, brand protection, sponsorship protection, or commercial compliance programs.
  • Previous involvement in major sporting events, international tournaments, exhibitions, entertainment events, or large-scale public gatherings.
  • Familiarity with clean venue, clean zone, and anti-ambush marketing principles.
  • Experience coordinating with venue operators, government authorities, security teams, or enforcement agencies.
  • Knowledge of licensing compliance and counterfeit merchandise prevention practices.
