Role overview

Primark is seeking a Retail Finance Systems SME to support the finance-side design, control, and rollout of POS and Cash Back Office (CBO) capabilities. This role sits within a fast-moving technology environment and focuses on ensuring retail financial processes are accurate, well controlled, and ready for large-scale store operations.

You’ll work at the intersection of finance, technology, store operations, and vendors, helping shape how cash, sales, reconciliations, and reporting flow through the business. The role is based in Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.

Key responsibilities

  • Own the finance workstream for POS and CBO implementation, making sure financial settings, tax logic, tender types, and store structures are configured correctly.
  • Design and maintain end-to-end cash control processes, including reconciliations across POS, CBO, banks, and payment partners, as well as handling discrepancies and escalation steps.
  • Ensure sales, cash activity, and variance entries are posted accurately and on time to the ERP and general ledger, supporting daily, weekly, and period-end closing.
  • Create, check, and update core POS/CBO finance reports covering cash, variance, banking, and settlement activity to support internal controls and audit preparation.
  • Work closely with Store Operations, Loss Prevention, Finance, and IT, while acting as the main finance point of contact for POS/CBO suppliers, system integrators, and store support teams.
  • Assist with store deployment, training, and post-launch stabilisation by advising on cash handling, reconciliation routines, and financial compliance requirements.

What you’ll need

  • A solid retail finance systems background, particularly with POS and Cash Back Office environments, plus practical experience in cash handling, reconciliations, and loss-prevention controls.
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP and finance platforms such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or Dynamics, with the ability to analyse large transaction volumes and perform detailed reconciliations in advanced Excel.
  • Hands-on exposure to POS and CBO solutions such as Aptos, Oracle Retail, NCR, Lightspeed, Diebold Nixdorf, or Shopify POS, ideally in multi-country or multi-currency retail settings.
  • A qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or an equivalent background, with experience in retail systems, finance transformation, or change/project delivery.
  • A strong control orientation, excellent attention to detail, and a practical, solution-led approach when working with store teams and loss prevention.
  • The ability to stay effective in high-volume, fast-paced retail environments while balancing technical knowledge with hands-on problem solving.
