Job description

Job Summary

The Retail Business Analyst will be instrumental in improving the performance of retail partners by examining data, operational processes, and systems to identify avenues for expansion and enhancement. This position serves as a liaison between commercial objectives and analytical solutions, ensuring that business strategies are supported by insights derived from data to boost efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

The role involves training on-site initially, transitioning to a hybrid work model with three days per week in the office.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Account Management teams to support client strategies, improve category performance, and contribute to revenue generation initiatives.
  • Analyze point-of-sale data, inventory levels, consumer behavior patterns, and market trends to identify emerging patterns, potential risks, and growth opportunities.
  • Translate business requirements into precise analytical specifications through effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create comprehensive reports, interactive dashboards, and compelling presentations to clearly convey insights and strategic recommendations to management and various teams.
  • Aid in forecasting, demand planning, and inventory management efforts to enhance customer performance and sales results.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of analytical projects and process improvement initiatives, ensuring alignment with overarching business objectives.
  • Work closely with finance, category management, marketing, and technology departments to implement data-driven solutions.
  • Contribute to strategic planning processes by conducting competitive analysis, market research, and evaluating consumer trends.
  • Maintain and analyze data related to pricing, promotions, and overall performance, ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant regulations.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in the retail, consumer goods sector, or a comparable analytical position supporting sales or commercial functions.
  • Previous experience working with major retail chains such as Walmart, Home Depot, or Canadian Tire is highly valued.
  • Possess strong analytical capabilities, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and transform findings into practical, actionable insights.
  • Familiarity with key retail clients, including large home improvement, mass merchandise, or energy-focused retailers, is considered an advantage.
  • Proficiency in using data visualization tools, reporting software, and analytical models to inform decision-making.
  • A proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse, cross-functional teams and communicate complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent organizational and project coordination skills, with a demonstrated capacity to manage multiple competing priorities effectively.
  • A solid understanding of forecasting methodologies, inventory planning principles, and critical retail performance indicators.
  • A detail-oriented approach, a problem-solving mindset, and a genuine interest in driving business improvements through data analysis.

Additional Information

  • This is a temporary to permanent position.
  • The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with a 30-minute lunch break.
