Role overview
The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is hiring a full-time Research Technician Level I to support NIH-funded clinical and epidemiological studies at NYSPI / CU Department of Psychiatry in New York City. This role contributes to the full research cycle, from study setup through data analysis and final dissemination materials.
What you will do
- Support research projects across study planning, execution, and analysis, including large survey datasets and clinical datasets.
- Prepare and organize materials for presentations, reports, proposals, manuscripts, and publications.
- Assist with grant-related work and IRB submissions and tracking.
- Carry out literature reviews and help monitor proposal, publication, report, and presentation progress.
- Format citations and build reference lists using Zotero for manuscript and submission needs.
- Program, test, troubleshoot, and refine computerized diagnostic interviews and questionnaires in RedCap, Qualtrics, and Blaise.
- Create, maintain, and update computerized codebooks.
- Manage, clean, and analyze research data.
- Track agenda items for weekly staff meetings and follow up on open items.
- Support the principal investigator with action items such as CV updates, PowerPoint preparation, and manuscript submission tasks.
Required background
A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in public health (epidemiology), psychology, neuroscience, or data science. Candidates should also bring at least 1.5 years of experience in a research environment.
Preferred experience and tools
Experience with computer programming, especially in RedCap, is strongly preferred. Familiarity with SAS or R, Zotero, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint will be helpful. The ideal candidate is organized, careful with details, able to communicate clearly in writing and speaking, and comfortable working independently while staying coordinated with a team.

Employment terms
The role is classified at Grade 16 and is a full-time, onsite position. The job is offered by a private not-for-profit corporation, not a New York State agency or instrumentality. Employees are not state employees, do not participate in a state retirement system, and do not receive state fringe benefits.
Compensation and benefits
The salary range for this position is $60,413 to $71,958 annually, and an excellent benefits package is provided.
