Job description
Role overview
This contract opportunity is for a freelance video editor supporting a team that creates educational video content for dog trainers and handlers. The work is centered on polishing a range of assets, from short promotional pieces and social media edits to longer lectures and workshop recordings. The position is mainly remote, with a preference for candidates located in or close to Manchester to allow for easier collaboration as the business expands.
What you will work on
- Edit and combine instructional videos, lectures, workshops, and promotional assets for web and social channels.
- Keep every edit aligned with the established brand look and maintain a polished, audience-friendly finish.
- Blend in B-roll, graphics, and audio where needed to make the content clearer and more engaging.
- Work with the team on revisions and use feedback to improve the quality of future edits.
- Export final files in the correct formats for the intended distribution platforms.
What the role involves
You will be handling footage from a mix of sources, including Canon EOS R cameras, DJI drones, and iPhones, often supported by well-organized B-roll. A strong understanding of editing rhythm, retention, and viewer engagement will help you succeed in this position. Experience with AI-assisted editing tools is considered valuable, and a background in educational or documentary-style editing is especially useful for longer-form projects. An interest in dogs or animal training is a nice bonus.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with professional editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve.
- Prior work on educational, documentary, or other long-form video content.
- A good eye for pacing, story flow, and audience retention.
- Comfort editing footage from several camera types and making effective use of B-roll.
- Careful attention to detail and the ability to follow an established brand style.
- Familiarity with AI-based editing tools is an advantage.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to act on feedback.
- Ability to work on your own and deliver on deadlines.
- Interest in dogs or animal training is beneficial.
- Remote-first setup, with preference for applicants near Manchester for possible in-person collaboration.
