Role overview

Oceania is looking for a part-time Registered Nurse to join the Heretaunga village team in Upper Hutt. In this role, you’ll work within a nurse-led environment and use your clinical judgement and hands-on expertise to deliver well-rounded care for residents. The position involves coordinating everyday care requirements, supporting colleagues, and developing meaningful relationships with residents, their families, and community allied health professionals.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee residents’ day-to-day care needs while encouraging and assisting the wider care team.
  • Carry out nursing assessments and interventions, working both on your own and in collaboration with others.
  • Exercise professional autonomy when making important decisions about resident care.
  • Develop trusted relationships with residents, their families, and external allied health providers.
  • Offer leadership, direction, coaching, and practical support to care staff and fellow team members.

What you should bring

  • A current Annual Practising Certificate for New Zealand.
  • A strong commitment to delivering high-quality service.
  • Prior experience working with clinical systems.
  • InterRAI experience is helpful, though not required.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Good organisation and time-management abilities.
  • Confidence in mentoring and coaching other staff.
  • Willingness to work a rotating roster.

Job details

  • Hourly pay ranges from NZ$37.38 to NZ$53.22 depending on experience.
  • The roster runs fortnightly and includes weekends and night shifts.
