Role overview
COBS Bread, certified as a Great Place To Work™, and recognized among the Best Workplaces in Retail & Hospitality 2025, is hiring a Regional Operations Specialist for its Prairies operations team based in Edmonton, Alberta. This role reports to the Regional Operations Manager, Prairies and is responsible for delivering hands-on operational guidance, bakery training, and oversight to help improve sales, operating profit, and standards across the region.
Key responsibilities
- Visit bakeries regularly to assess franchisee compliance in merchandising, customer experience, and product quality, and help put required improvements into place.
- Provide on-site training and operational help when needed to support sales growth and address performance gaps.
- Plan and roll out local marketing activities.
- Execute profit improvement plans across the assigned portfolio as directed by the Regional Director.
- Take part in in-person reviews of production processes, including recipe compliance checks.
- Compare actual bakery production against production schedules during in-bakery reviews.
- Join Quarterly and Annual Business Reviews when required and contribute to discussions so that agreed outcomes translate into bakery-level actions.
- Track bakery standards and work with franchisees to make sure expectations are met and corrective actions are completed.
- Follow all applicable OH&S policies and procedures.
- Handle other assignments and special projects as needed.
Requirements
- A positive, high-energy approach and the ability to build trust and strong working relationships quickly.
- 1 to 2 years of operations experience, ideally in a franchise retail setting.
- At least 2 years of customer service experience.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in food service, hospitality, or franchising.
- Hands-on baking experience is required.
- A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel often, with significant time spent working in the field.
- Strong spoken and written communication skills.
- Ability to influence others, support change, and promote ongoing improvement.
- Comfort working independently as well as collaboratively in a team.
- Solid problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Good interpersonal skills for building trust and rapport.
- Strong organization and time-management skills for handling multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail.
