Role overview
This senior finance leadership position is responsible for the accounting and financial management of the company’s Asian operations, spanning Singapore, China, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines. The role owns regional financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, cash flow oversight, process and system enhancement, and people leadership. It supports the region’s financial strength and long-term sustainability while keeping financial plans aligned with wider business priorities.
The scope covers regional turnover of USD 350 million for FY25 and a team of about 15 people across the legal entities. The position reports to the regional commercial leader and the global CFO.
Strategic leadership
- Shape and deliver the financial roadmap in line with overall business objectives.
- Serve as a trusted finance advisor to Regional Directors and trading teams on planning, performance, and strategic choices.
- Contribute to corporate strategy discussions and decision-making.
- Travel regularly within the region to work with local offices and support strategy execution.
Financial management
- Oversee accurate and timely financial reporting, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and monthly management accounts.
- Ensure year-end audits are completed without issues.
- Work with local teams to maintain compliance and meet reporting deadlines.
- Coordinate closely with global finance leadership to keep processes consistent across regions.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and longer-term financial planning activities.
- Track key financial indicators, performance benchmarks, and share insights with stakeholders.
- Maintain strong internal controls, finance systems, and reporting frameworks.
- Liaise with HQ in London and the global development team to communicate local system requirements and make sure changes are implemented correctly while preserving global reporting consistency.
- Ensure full adherence to statutory, regulatory, and tax obligations across all entities.
- Identify financial risks and work with regional and HQ risk/compliance teams on mitigation plans.
- Review and improve processes continuously to support the business diversification strategy and deliver faster, higher-quality outcomes.
- Own the Asia cash flow forecast and contribute it to the global consolidated forecast.
Team leadership
- Build, guide, and develop a high-performing regional finance team.
- Partner with finance leaders in each country to align and implement strategy.
- Coach team members and create opportunities for growth and professional development.
- Promote accountability, integrity, and a culture of ongoing improvement.
Skills and experience required
- Professional accounting qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CFA, or an equivalent credential.
- At least 8-10+ years of progressive finance experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a leadership position.
- Strong background in financial strategy, budgeting, compliance, and reporting.
- Solid knowledge of accounting standards, including local Asian GAAP and IFRS/GAAP.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic decision-making abilities.
- Confident leadership and strong interpersonal skills.
- Advanced capability with finance software, ERP platforms, and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Comfort working in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
- Practical, detail-focused approach with high standards of integrity and professionalism.
- Experience in a comparable agri-business or commodity trading environment will be a plus.
Additional information
This position is based in Singapore and requires onsite presence. The role covers multiple Asian legal entities and involves regular travel across the region.
