Job description
Role overview
This position is centered on realistic adversary simulation to measure how well security controls hold up, uncover likely attack routes, and improve an organization’s defensive readiness. All work must be performed within approved legal, regulatory, and ethical boundaries.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out red team and adversary emulation exercises across network, endpoint, identity, cloud, and application environments.
- Recreate real attacker techniques using MITRE ATT&CK-aligned methods to assess detection and response coverage.
- Find security gaps, validate them with repeatable proof, and assess their potential impact.
- Work alongside blue and purple teams to confirm detections and assist with remediation planning.
- Follow the approved scope, rules of engagement, and all national security constraints without exception.
- Prepare concise, technically sound reports that can be understood by both practitioners and security leadership.
- Use strong practical knowledge of Windows, Active Directory, networking basics, and standard red team tools.
- Operate independently in sensitive, high-trust settings with a consistently professional approach.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline.
- Solid understanding of core cybersecurity principles.
- At least 7 years of experience in red team operations.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills for collaboration across varied groups.
- Experience managing cybersecurity red team projects.
- Technically led a minimum of 10 red team engagements.
- Built at least one tool developed by the candidate, not merely a script.
- Identified at least one original research technique, such as bypassing logging, finding a new enumeration approach, or exposing a new product misconfiguration.
- Delivered at least one training session.
- Certified in CRTO II.
