Job description

Overview

Unreconciled is an embedded finance services agency that supports startup and scaleup clients in the UK and US. Its teams place trained finance professionals, from bookkeepers to controllers, directly within client businesses to manage everything from daily bookkeeping to CFO-level guidance. Delivery operations are based in Ahmedabad, Kochi, and Indore.

The company has expanded from 50 people in 18 months and is aiming to reach 300 over the next three years. To support that growth, it is looking for someone who can take full ownership of hiring and create a scalable recruitment engine.

Role Summary

This position is for a Recruitment Lead who will manage finance and accounting hiring from start to finish and build the systems needed to scale volume quickly. It is a strategic and managerial role rather than a purely operational recruiting job. The expected output is more than five high-quality hires each month, along with a dependable pipeline that can sustain growth.

A deep understanding of accounting is essential. The role requires the ability to evaluate finance talent accurately, design practical assessments that test real capability, and maintain hiring standards as hiring volume increases. The final hiring call will rest with this person.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consistently deliver more than five strong finance and accounting hires every month while the business grows from 50 to 300 employees.
  • Own hiring decisions by screening, evaluating, and selecting candidates against the quality benchmark you help define.
  • Manage full-cycle recruitment for Associate, Senior Associate, Management Accountant, and Controller positions, from sourcing through offer acceptance.
  • Create and maintain a reliable talent pipeline so hiring remains a structured process instead of a last-minute scramble.
  • Design and run role-relevant assessments using your accounting expertise, including AutoProctor-based tests of 75 minutes and live exercises that measure practical ability and independence.
  • Build and guide a recruiting team as the function grows.
  • Source candidates actively through LinkedIn, job boards, referrals, campus channels, and professional communities.
  • Handle application intake and tracking through Cognito Forms and coordinate face-to-face interviews with Partners and Controllers.
  • Track hiring performance metrics such as time-to-fill, conversion rates, and source quality while preserving hiring standards at scale.

Hiring Approach

  • Selection is based on self-sufficiency and accounting strength, not just interest or interview performance.
  • Technical assessments for Associate and Senior Associate roles are timed and proctored using AutoProctor for 75 minutes.
  • All interviews are conducted in person; video-only hiring is not part of the process.
  • The trial period serves as the final decision point, with candidates expected to prove capability in real work conditions.

Requirements

  • Strong, practical accounting knowledge that enables proper evaluation of finance talent, assessment design, and quality control.
  • Leadership ability to make decisions, take ownership, and build a team rather than functioning only as an individual contributor.
  • Quick learning ability to adapt to changing tools, standards, and business needs.
  • Proven experience in full-cycle recruitment, preferably within finance/accounting, professional services, KPO/GCC, or shared-services environments.
  • Demonstrated success in high-volume hiring without reducing quality.
  • Solid sourcing capability across LinkedIn Recruiter, job boards, and referral networks.
  • Independent, decisive working style with the confidence to move work forward without constant direction.
  • Willingness to be based in Ahmedabad, Kochi, or Indore; this is an office-based role.
  • Comfort working with partial overlap into UK and US business hours.

Preferred Background

  • Accounting qualification or background such as CA, ACCA, or CMA, whether part-qualified or qualified.
  • Experience recruiting for finance teams serving UK or US businesses.
  • Experience creating and leading a recruitment function from the ground up in a fast-growing company.

Success Measures

  • By month 3: a steady flow of 5+ hires per month, a capability-based assessment process in place, and an active pipeline across the core roles.
  • By month 12: a repeatable hiring engine supported by a small team, quality maintained through the trial filter, and progress aligned with the 300-employee growth target.

Additional Information

This is a full-time, on-site position located in Kochi, Kerala, India, with possible placement or relocation to Ahmedabad, Kochi, or Indore. Some overlap with UK and US working hours is expected. The company is growing rapidly and expects the recruitment function to scale with it.
