Job description
About the role
Recruit I.T. is expanding its presence in Wellington and is seeking a Consultant to help strengthen its footprint in the capital. This role offers a rare opportunity to start with a clean slate, giving you the freedom to build and manage your own desk while being supported by a specialist IT recruitment brand and a collaborative team.
The core focus is proactive contract recruitment, connecting capable IT contractors with client projects and programmes of work. The position is centred on contract hiring across Government, All-of-Government, and enterprise accounts in Wellington.
Key responsibilities
- Drive contract recruitment activity across Government, All-of-Government, and enterprise clients in the Wellington market.
- Create, develop, and maintain a strong network of IT contractor talent that can be matched to client projects and delivery needs.
- Grow and strengthen relationships with customers across public sector and enterprise organisations.
- Own the full recruitment cycle, including briefing, sourcing, placement, and continuing contractor support.
- Help establish Recruit I.T.'s brand and market reputation in Wellington, with flexibility to shape the direction of your desk.
- Work closely with the broader team to exchange talent, market knowledge, and business opportunities.
What you'll bring
- Previous recruitment experience, preferably in contract recruitment within IT, technology, or professional services.
- Background working in the New Zealand market, ideally with exposure to Government or All-of-Government environments.
- A relationship-focused approach to building and managing contractor pipelines.
- Strong business development capability and the ambition to grow a desk.
- Excellent communication, planning, and stakeholder management skills.
- Self-drive, accountability, and the initiative to succeed in a largely self-directed role.
What’s on offer
- A genuine blank-canvas opportunity with ownership and autonomy to build something of your own.
- A central role in the company’s Wellington growth, with the chance to help shape a market.
- The support of a specialist IT recruitment brand and an experienced, team-oriented group.
Application note
If this opportunity sounds like the right next step, submit your application and shortlisted candidates will be contacted. The team is keen to hear how you would make Wellington your own.
