The company focuses on educating users, testing ambitious ideas, making decisions based on evidence, and solving complex problems with fresh approaches. Team members get strong opportunities to learn, work with highly capable colleagues, and contribute to work that is both impactful and enjoyable.

This role supports a mission to improve learning experiences for hundreds of millions of users worldwide.

Role Overview

Duolingo is hiring a generalist recruiter to help identify and hire top talent for non-technical teams, with possible involvement in some technical hiring as needed. The role covers the full hiring process, from initial intake through offer stage, and requires close collaboration with hiring managers to clarify expectations, build pipelines, and maintain an excellent experience for candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full recruiting lifecycle, including intake discussions, sourcing, assessments, offer support, and end-to-end hiring execution for a variety of non-technical roles.
  • Work closely with hiring managers to align on role needs, interview structure, and hiring timelines while helping keep searches moving efficiently.
  • Participate in intake meetings and recruiting check-ins by providing status updates, sharing observations, and suggesting next steps.
  • Handle recruiting operations by tracking timelines, monitoring progress, sharing proactive updates, and following standardized workflows and tools.
  • Create a strong candidate journey through timely communication, well-structured evaluations, and clear feedback throughout the process.
  • Review funnel metrics, spot patterns, and use recruiting data to improve search performance and decision-making.
  • Use internal and external tools, including AI-enabled resources, to support recruiting work.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of full-cycle recruiting experience across multiple non-technical functions such as Business, Marketing, Design, or People.
  • Ability to manage several searches at the same time while staying organized and preserving candidate quality.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities, with a track record of building trust and alignment with hiring partners.
  • Experience using recruiting analytics such as pipeline metrics and conversion rates to guide strategy.
  • Comfort exploring, building, and testing AI tools such as ChatGPT for recruiting workflows.
  • Hands-on familiarity with recruiting systems and platforms such as Gem, Brighthire, Guide, and Greenhouse.
  • Ability to work in Pittsburgh, PA or New York, NY, or relocate to one of those locations.

Preferred Profile

  • Experience hiring across both non-technical and technical functions.
  • Strong awareness of the current hiring market, including trends and commonly used platforms.
  • Background in tech, startups, or other fast-growing organizations.
  • Strong connection to Duolingo’s mission and purpose.
