About the role
This position sits within a structured credit business that offers short-term, asset-backed financing to mid-market companies operating in trade-oriented industries. The organization provides working capital support based on genuine cash-flow drivers such as inventory turnover, receivables, and purchase orders, with each facility secured by identifiable value.
Job summary
The Recovery Officer will handle overdue and delinquent accounts, apply effective recovery approaches, and work to reduce loan losses while preserving professional working relationships with customers and other stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the recovery of non-performing loans and accounts that are past due.
- Create and put into action practical debt recovery plans.
- Discuss and agree on repayment plans with customers.
- Track recovery results and compile performance reports.
- Work with external recovery partners, lawyers, and regulators when required.
- Carry out investigations and skip-tracing work to locate obligors.
- Advise on restructuring or write-off decisions where suitable.
- Keep records complete, accurate, and well organized.
- Contribute to efforts that strengthen portfolio quality.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, banking and finance, economics, business administration, or another related discipline.
- Professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, ACIB, or similar certifications are a strong advantage.
- At least 3 to 4 years of experience in loan recovery, collections, credit administration, or comparable work in a bank, finance company, microfinance bank, or fintech.
- Proven ability in negotiation and debt recovery.
- Solid understanding of credit risk management and loan recovery procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Comfortable working under pressure and delivering against recovery goals.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
- High integrity and strong attention to detail.
Compensation and benefits
The monthly net salary is 509,500.32 Naira. Salary may be reviewed upward after a 3-month probation period, based on performance.
The benefits package includes pension, HMO, performance-based bonus, pool car, 13th month pay, end-of-year package, training and development support, and other company-wide benefits.
