Job description

Role overview

A well-established civil engineering contractor in Dunleer, County Louth is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support infrastructure projects across North Dublin, Meath, and Louth. This role offers the chance to join a growing business and contribute to projects from the pre-contract stage through to the final account.

The position involves an even blend of office-based and site-based work, with roughly half of the time spent in the Dunleer office and the rest on site visits.

Key responsibilities

  • Take ownership of cost management across civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
  • Review and produce bills of quantities, pricing estimates, and tender documentation.
  • Carry out site measurements and assess completed works for valuation purposes.
  • Oversee subcontractor packages, including procurement, payments, and variation handling.
  • Work closely with engineers, project managers, and site personnel to keep commercial matters aligned.
  • Track project expenditure, budgets, and forecasts throughout the full lifecycle of each job.
  • Prepare interim valuations, final accounts, and detailed cost reports.
  • Visit project sites regularly across North Dublin, Meath, and Louth.
  • Assist with contract administration and ensure contractual requirements are met.

Candidate profile

The employer is looking for a degree-qualified Quantity Surveyor, or someone with a closely related qualification at Level 8 or above, together with at least four years of relevant experience in construction or civil engineering. A strong grasp of construction pricing, contracts, and commercial processes is essential, and experience on infrastructure or civil engineering work would be an advantage.

The right candidate should be confident with numerical work, analysis, and negotiation, and should be comfortable using MS Office along with relevant QS or commercial software. Excellent communication and organisational skills are expected, as is a full driving licence and the flexibility to travel to site when needed.

Salary and benefits

  • Expected salary range: approximately €65,000 to €75,000, subject to experience.
  • Balanced work pattern with around 50% office work in Dunleer and 50% site-based activity.
  • Exposure to a wide variety of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
  • Clear scope for career development within a growing contractor.
  • Supportive working culture with regular involvement in live projects.
