Job description

Company Overview

Cornerstone Building Brands is a major North American producer of exterior building materials for residential and low-rise non-residential projects. With its headquarters in Cary, North Carolina, the company supports both residential and commercial clients across new construction as well as Repair & Remodel markets. Its product range includes vinyl windows, vinyl siding, stone veneer, metal roofing, metal wall systems, and metal accessories. The organization operates through a broad multi-channel distribution network and a large footprint of manufacturing, distribution, and office sites across North America, with more than 18,800 employees. Sustainability and ESG principles are part of its culture, and the company aims to make a positive contribution to the communities in which it operates.

Role Summary

Reporting to the Quality Supervisor, this hands-on and detail-focused position is responsible for carrying out random quality checks across multiple production lines, documenting and sharing defect information each day, and maintaining quality-related records and files. The role also includes floor-level training, investigating why recurring defects happen, preparing reports, and providing support to the Manufacturing and Quality teams as needed.

What You Will Do

  • Review products at different stages of the manufacturing cycle.
  • Carry out investigations when failures occur and determine the underlying causes.
  • Conduct audits on both processes and finished products.
  • Capture audit findings and quality data to help production teams spot and address non-conformance patterns.
  • Test products in a controlled setting, including on-site water tests and corner-strength checks for weld quality.
  • Inspect incoming shipments from different suppliers for quality compliance.
  • Support customers through objective, data-based decisions and assist production and service teams with field remediation efforts.
  • Train shop-floor employees on correct assembly methods, equipment calibration, and maintenance coordination.
  • Help review quality standards and prepare work instructions and job breakdown sheets.

Working Conditions

This is a non-union hourly position. The schedule may require flexibility, including occasional Saturday shifts. The work is physically active and may involve some heavy lifting.

Education and Skills

A Grade 12 diploma or an equivalent credential is required. The ideal candidate works well in a team, communicates clearly in both speaking and writing, pays close attention to detail, and is eager to learn. Comfort with computers and data entry is important, along with familiarity with problem-solving methods such as Fishbone diagrams and 5-Why analysis. Six Sigma certification would be considered an advantage.

Equal Opportunity and Accommodation

Cornerstone Building Brands Canada is committed to building an inclusive, equitable, and accessible workplace. Applicants can request accommodations at any stage of the recruitment process, and any accommodation-related information will be handled confidentially.
