Role overview

Shore Fire Media is hiring a driven and detail-focused publicity assistant to join its Brooklyn office. The position suits someone who genuinely enjoys pop culture and music and is energized by supporting a wide mix of clients, including artists, authors, comedians, creators, cultural figures, entrepreneurs, leaders in the LGBTQ+ and drag communities, plus music venues and touring acts. This is a fast-moving role for a person who can juggle several priorities, take ownership, respond well to feedback and keep learning on the job.

What the role involves

  • Learn the basics of media relations, campaign planning and client management by working closely with publicists.
  • Contribute to multiple publicity campaigns right from the start.
  • Write press materials such as releases, pitch emails, media alerts and talking points.
  • Prepare, revise and distribute final press reports to supervisors.
  • Share daily media coverage clips with the supervisor and client.
  • Keep client notes and records well organized and current.
  • Support campaign planning alongside other team members.
  • Coordinate appearance, interview and event logistics.
  • Attend press events, concerts, red carpet activities and meetings.
  • Track tour press requests, send invitations, pitch preview opportunities and build press schedules.
  • Manage client communication and keep up with emails and action items.
  • Confirm client calls and interview schedules.
  • Join client interviews on Zoom and in person.
  • Create calendar invitations for client interviews and additional calls.
  • Draft call agendas, capture notes during calls and send follow-up recaps and next steps to clients.
  • Stay in regular contact with the supervisor about priorities, progress and any likely deadline shifts.
  • Organize work according to each client’s broader goals and timeline.
  • Pitch clients for media coverage and other opportunities.

Candidate profile

  • At least 1 year of experience in a similar communications role, or a minimum of 2 PR/communications internships.
  • Strong time management and organizational ability, with a sharp eye for detail.
  • A proactive attitude, comfort with challenges and strong problem-solving instincts.
  • Ability to follow direction well and work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • A growth-oriented mindset and willingness to learn from feedback.
  • Excellent writing, verbal communication and storytelling skills.
  • Strong habit of following media and news closely.
  • Genuine interest in public relations and the music/entertainment business.
