Role: Project Manager - Site
Job Family: Civil Execution
The Project Manager - Site is responsible for leading and overseeing the complete execution of a major construction project at the designated site. This role ensures that the project is delivered on time, within budget, and adheres to all safety and quality benchmarks. The Project Head is the primary point of contact for all site operations, encompassing engineering, procurement coordination, construction activities, and managing relationships with various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full responsibility for project execution, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, cost, and quality objectives.
- Develop and implement comprehensive project execution strategies, timelines, and resource allocation plans.
- Lead and manage diverse site teams, including construction, engineering, planning, quality assurance/control, environmental health and safety (EHS), and administrative functions.
- Continuously monitor project advancement, identify any deviations from the plan, and implement necessary corrective measures.
- Guarantee adherence to all applicable safety regulations, quality standards, and legal requirements.
- Facilitate close collaboration with design teams, procurement departments, and external consultants to ensure smooth project progression.
- Cultivate and maintain robust relationships with essential stakeholders such as clients, consultants, suppliers, and contractors.
- Review and approve proposed construction techniques and the sequence of work activities.
- Conduct regular daily and weekly review meetings with internal teams and external entities.
- Oversee and manage project budgets, track cost variations, and ensure efficient control over site expenditures.
Key Interactions
Internal Stakeholders: Engage with cross-functional site teams for effective coordination across all departments. Liaise with design and technical teams to resolve technical queries and address design-related issues.
External Stakeholders: Communicate with clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies for progress updates, obtaining approvals, and ensuring compliance. Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and agencies for execution planning, operational coordination, and performance evaluation.
Knowledge & Experience
Knowledge: Requires a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Civil Engineering or a comparable field. Proficiency in English, Hindi, and the local language is essential.
Experience: A minimum of 20 to 25 years of experience in managing large-scale construction projects is necessary. Demonstrated leadership in the end-to-end execution of industrial, infrastructure, or significant commercial projects is required. A strong understanding of project planning, cost management, quality assurance, and safety protocols is crucial. Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and managing numerous contractors and vendors is also important.
Technical & Leadership Skills
Technical Skills: Proficiency in project management software like MS Project and Primavera, understanding of construction execution methodologies, budgeting and cost control techniques, risk management, contract administration, change management processes, construction methods, cost estimation, de-snagging procedures, EHS management, interpreting technical drawings, invoicing and billing processes, project performance monitoring, project planning and scheduling, rate analysis, understanding of regulatory compliance in design and execution, resource planning, sub-contractor management, and technical inspection.
Leadership/Behavioral Skills: Strategic thinking, effective decision-making, team building and leadership capabilities, conflict resolution expertise, strong communication and presentation skills, result-orientation, and crisis management abilities.
