Role Overview
A well-established general contractor is hiring a Project Manager to lead healthcare construction work from planning through final turnover. The position may be located in a regional office or onsite at project locations depending on project needs. In this role, you will oversee budgeting, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, quality assurance, safety, and communication with clients and other project stakeholders.
Core Responsibilities
- Create project execution plans and business strategies, then guide delivery from start to finish.
- Work with field leadership to build project-specific safety plans and maintain a safe jobsite.
- Act as the main contact for owners, architects, engineers, and other involved parties.
- Partner with preconstruction and field teams to make sure contract obligations, quality expectations, testing requirements, and reporting duties are completed.
- Develop staging, logistics, and phasing approaches for the project.
- Lead early project setup, including permitting, licensing, and mobilization.
- Support preparation and updates of the project schedule, and run regular coordination and scheduling meetings.
- Set up cost tracking systems, change order logs, and budget controls.
- Track labor forecasts, project projections, budget performance, and overall financial results.
- Review and approve invoices for materials and equipment.
- Prepare owner billing applications and monitor payment collection.
- Coordinate subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead subcontractor kickoff, preconstruction, and startup meetings.
- Negotiate, issue, and manage subcontracts and purchase orders.
- Ensure subcontractors meet compliance requirements such as insurance, bonds, safety records, and regulatory obligations.
- Manage change orders for subcontractors and vendors.
- Keep procurement moving so materials and equipment arrive on schedule.
- Implement and enforce the project quality control program.
- Work with field leadership on safety checks, audits, and review activities.
- Ensure compliance with company, client, and regulatory standards for both quality and safety.
- Attend owner-architect-contractor meetings and share progress updates.
- Coordinate with local agencies and inspectors during construction.
- Maintain project documents such as RFIs, submittals, reports, projections, and change orders.
- Prepare monthly reports and executive-level status updates.
- Oversee closeout activities including punch list completion, turnover documents, warranties, final accounting, and reporting.
- Ensure the client receives a complete and successful project handoff.
- Guide and mentor Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and interns.
- Promote teamwork across internal teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Support process improvement efforts and adoption of best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Building Science, or a similar discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience in construction project management.
- Ability to independently run commercial construction projects.
- Experience coordinating architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical scopes.
- Working knowledge of construction management and project controls software.
- Strong understanding of project budgeting, financial management, and cost control.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
- Good problem-solving and conflict-handling ability.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Comfort managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel or relocate as project needs change.
Preferred Background
Experience in commercial, healthcare, institutional, industrial, or large-scale building projects is preferred. Prior involvement in projects from preconstruction through closeout is also valued, along with familiarity with scheduling tools, project management platforms, and financial reporting systems.
