Project Manager - Business Change

Role overview

This contract role is for a Project Manager focused on business change in Burnaby, BC. The assignment runs for 12 months and follows a hybrid setup, with up to 2 days each week spent onsite.

The position supports a large organization that is carrying out business transformation and process improvement work. It is well suited to a project management professional who has handled change management programs, stakeholder coordination, and business process improvement initiatives.

The selected candidate will oversee low- to medium-complexity business change projects and will be accountable for delivering work safely, on schedule, within budget, and to a strong quality standard.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of business process change and transformation projects from kickoff through implementation.
• Create and keep current project plans, communication plans, action trackers, status updates, and post-launch reviews.
• Track progress, staffing, risks, issues, and the delivery of expected benefits.
• Design and apply risk controls across the full project timeline.
• Support stakeholder engagement and build productive relationships across business teams.
• Assist with project definition, planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting.
• Prepare project materials and presentations for executives and other stakeholders.
• Carry out needs analysis and assist with organization-wide change activities.
• Make sure project deliverables meet agreed timelines, budgets, and goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, or a closely related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in project management.
• Proven background in leading change management efforts.
• Experience performing needs assessments and supporting business transformation work.
• Advanced skill level with Microsoft Office tools, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong ability in communication, presentations, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management.
• Well-developed organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Capability to manage several priorities and work effectively in a team-oriented setting.
• PMP designation is preferred.
• Experience in utilities, public sector, or Crown corporation environments is an advantage.
• Familiarity with Smartsheet for planning and reporting is preferred.
