About the Company
Govan Brown is a Canada-wide construction company based in Toronto. The firm specializes in commercial interior projects and core and shell construction. Operating since 1994, the company is known for delivering quality, innovative work and strong client service. It aims to create a workplace that supports high standards, professional growth, and community involvement. Govan Brown has been named among Canada’s Best Managed Companies and one of Canada’s Top 40 Contractors.
Role Overview
The company is looking for an energetic and organized Project Management Assistant / Project Coordinator to join its Toronto office. In this position, you will support Project Managers and Site Supervisors across every stage of construction work, from bidding and planning through execution and final close-out. The goal is to help deliver projects on time, on budget, and to a high standard of quality.
Key Responsibilities
You will coordinate project documentation and day-to-day processes, maintain project data in the company’s CMiC system, assist with drawings review, and help manage communication among clients, designers, subcontractors, and internal teams. The role also includes site visits, participation in meetings, support with project accounting, and handling close-out records and stakeholder updates.
What You Need to Bring
The ideal candidate has a background in Construction Management, Architecture, or Engineering, along with at least 3 years of relevant experience, ideally in commercial construction or interior fit-ups. You should understand construction drawings and documentation, know how projects move from startup to completion, and be comfortable solving problems quickly. Strong organization, initiative, professionalism, and confidence in a fast-moving environment are important.
Compensation and Benefits
This position offers an annual salary range of $70,000 to $90,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Govan Brown also provides a broad benefits package and workplace perks, including summer hours, team and volunteer events, referral and service rewards, training and development support, health and dental coverage, a Health Spending Account of at least $750, employee assistance resources, a minimum of 3 weeks of vacation, RRSP matching up to 5%, an employee share purchase plan, a boot allowance, and a strong safety-focused culture.
Working Conditions
The role is based at 108 Vine Avenue in Toronto and is fully in-office. It is not available as a hybrid or remote position. The work environment includes exposure to active construction sites throughout all seasons.
Equal Opportunity
Govan Brown is an equal opportunity employer. Only candidates selected for further consideration will be contacted.
