Job description
Role overview
This opportunity is for a senior Project Director to oversee major EPCMV Biotech and Pharma assignments across Ireland and Mainland Europe. The position sits within a global engineering and construction business known for delivering large life sciences facilities that enable the manufacture of critical therapies. The successful person will take end-to-end accountability for project outcomes, including commercial results, delivery timelines, quality standards, and client satisfaction.
The organisation works across the full project lifecycle, from strategy and site selection through regulatory compliance, design, construction management, commissioning, validation, and start-up. It brings together a broad multidisciplinary team with deep biopharma facility experience. This is a high-responsibility leadership role suited to someone who can guide diverse teams, manage complexity confidently, and make safety, quality, and innovation central to every decision.
Key duties
You will direct large and complex life sciences EPCMV projects from early stage through handover. The role requires strong oversight of safety, contract administration, invoicing, forecasting, and commercial reporting. You will also be responsible for keeping schedules on track, maintaining budget discipline, and ensuring delivery aligns with client expectations.
A major part of the position involves building durable client partnerships through open communication and prompt issue resolution. You will supervise quality records, compliance activities, and validation deliverables, while coordinating subcontractor groups across multiple specialist disciplines. In addition, you will apply robust project controls to monitor progress, risks, and performance, and contribute to proposals, tender evaluations, and strategic pursuit work.
Candidate profile
The role calls for a degree in engineering, construction management, project management, or a closely related area. You should bring extensive experience delivering EPCMV Biotech or Pharma projects, along with a proven record of leading multidisciplinary teams on major capital programmes.
Strong commercial awareness, contractual judgement, and technical understanding are essential. Equally important are excellent communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholders effectively, since the success of the role depends heavily on relationships, trust, and clear leadership.
What success looks like
Success in this role means leading decisively and accountably, maintaining a genuine partnership with clients and project teams, and treating safety and quality as non-negotiable standards. You will be expected to handle complexity calmly and strategically, rather than simply escalating problems.
Role reality
This is not a light-touch coordination position. It is full ownership of major capital projects where safety, quality, and client confidence are central to the outcome. If you are looking to lead from the front on demanding life sciences delivery programmes, this role offers that opportunity.
Location
The role is based in Ireland / Mainland Europe.
