Role Overview

Turner Construction’s Toronto office is hiring a full-time Project Coordinator, New Graduate for its Canada - Toronto division. The position is based in Toronto, Ontario, with project work at Toronto, ON M4C 1M5 CAN. It is a regular role that requires working on-site or from the head office, Monday through Friday, for 40 hours per week. The role may report to either the Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager.

The Project Coordinator will support the Project Operations team, either in the business unit office or at the jobsite, by helping gather, review, and coordinate engineering information needed for project delivery.

What the Job Involves

  • Support and reinforce safety procedures throughout the life of the project.
  • Collaborate with project teams to build safety preplanning into every phase of work.
  • Assist with planning and scheduling using lean practices or the Last Planner System.
  • Take part in preconstruction work such as design reviews, tendering, bid leveling, review meetings, and project launch activities.
  • Act as a point of contact between architects, trades, consultants, suppliers, inspectors, project team members, and owner representatives to help resolve drawing and specification issues.
  • Join preconstruction and submittal review meetings.
  • Track submittals and shop drawings, review contract drawings and subcontract documents, and help ensure alignment with estimates and contract requirements.
  • Support pricing submissions for change orders, help manage change order activity, prepare independent analysis, and verify subcontractor change estimates.
  • Help obtain approvals from the architect and owner and document changes, conflicts, and contract-related issues.
  • Participate in quality control inspections to confirm installations match contract documents and approved shop drawings.
  • Monitor required-on-job dates, schedule dependencies, and lead times.
  • Review drawing conflicts, issue RFIs with proposed solutions, check responses, and distribute them to the relevant parties.
  • Take part in budget reviews and build a clear understanding of the project estimate.
  • Support closeout by preparing final project records, including RFIs, warranties, as-builts, O&M manuals, attic stock, spare parts, and other compliance documentation.
  • Prepare scope of work and Additional Provisions (AP-1) documents for trade partner subcontracts.
  • Maintain the project constraints log and prepare reports such as submittal, change order, and quality control logs.
  • Handle any additional duties assigned by the team.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree with formal training in engineering or architecture, or equivalent construction experience, is required.
  • Construction internship or co-op experience is strongly preferred.
  • A basic working knowledge of scheduling software is an advantage.
  • Applicants should be able to interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules.
  • Familiarity with lean methods is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal ability and a willingness to grow construction knowledge are important.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills are needed.
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, are required.

Working Conditions

The role involves regular computer use, sitting, handling tools or controls, reaching, speaking, hearing, and frequent viewing of a monitor. The employee must be mobile, may travel short or long distances using different forms of transport, and will work primarily on construction sites with occasional office or remote work. Physical demands include lifting or moving up to 4.5 kg regularly and up to 23 kg occasionally. The job may involve exposure to moving machinery, elevated work areas, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather, and electrical hazards. Noise levels vary from quiet to moderate in the office and moderate to loud on site. Work must follow company safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
