About Relay

Relay is a digital banking platform designed for self-made entrepreneurs, that provides tools and knowledge enabling better financial management. It aims to transform cash flow management from stressful guesswork to clear, actionable insight, helping business owners build sustainable success.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Product Data Analyst to be a critical link between data analysis and strategic decisions as Relay grows. You will empower product and business teams with in-depth, practical insights to drive data-informed decision-making aligned with customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to suggest analytical approaches and uncover data-driven insights enhancing strategic goals.
  • Identify, track, and report core KPIs, creating dashboards and reports to ensure teams have data required for effective operation.
  • Conduct comprehensive analyses to generate new insights and advise business directions by sharing trend findings with stakeholders.
  • Oversee data quality, maintaining accuracy and consistency across datasets.
  • Deliver robust data models and visually intuitive representations like charts and dashboards that reflect business objectives and challenges.
  • Employ statistical techniques, including A/B testing, to analyze and predict impacts of new product features and market opportunities.
  • Integrate and analyze diverse data sources — user feedback, surveys, operational metrics, event logs — linking these insights directly to business results.
  • Regularly communicate findings and their business implications to stakeholders, including senior leadership, shaping future data-driven strategies.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum two years in data-focused roles such as Data Analyst or Business Analyst.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, including complex queries, window functions, performance optimization, data warehousing, and security principles, with clear articulation of methodologies.
  • Experience with BI and data visualization tools (e.g., Metabase, Sigma, Periscope, Mode).
  • Aman for converting complex datasets into actionable business insights that influence decisions.
  • Approach analyses by first understanding business problems through insightful questioning.
  • Comfortable managing and analyzing large datasets independently while collaborating with diverse teams.
  • Excellent communication skills to build stakeholder relationships across departments.
  • Adaptability to work effectively in a fast-changing, ambiguous environment with evolving priorities and infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure and cloud data warehouses like BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift.
  • Knowledge of dbt for data modeling and automation.
  • Experience in data programming languages like Python or R.
  • History of contributing to businesses through early stages and scaling phases.

Interview Process

  • Initial 45-minute video interview with Talent Team member.
  • 60-minute video interview with the Hiring Manager.
  • Take-home case study followed by a 60-minute video interview with Data team members.
  • 45-minute in-person interview with Leadership.

Compensation

The salary ranges from CAD 99,000 to CAD 121,000 annually. Typical starting pay is around CAD 110,000 for candidates fully ready for the role. Adjustments may apply based on impact and expectations, with raises tied to performance rather than fixed annual reviews.

Company Culture and Values

  • Focus on continuous improvement and innovation across tasks, craft, and self.
  • Support for autonomy, initiative-taking, and calculated risk-taking.
  • Ownership mentality where outcomes take priority over simple task completion.
  • Active integration of AI technologies in workflows.
  • Emphasis on meaningful impact and delivering results over seeking recognition.
  • Comfort handling complex, ambiguous problems with iterative approaches.
  • Open-mindedness to feedback and learning from critique.
  • Strong commitment to supporting small businesses aligns with Relay's mission.

Inclusivity and Equal Opportunity

Relay welcomes applicants with varied backgrounds and encourages those passionate about their mission to apply, regardless of exact qualification matching. Accommodations are available throughout the hiring process on request.
