The role calls for someone who can manage sourcing, contracts, vendor relationships, and purchasing processes while improving speed, compliance, and cost outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Handle procurement across MRO and Capex categories, including engineering capital items, plant and machinery, spare parts, annual maintenance contracts, rate contracts, and operations manpower services.
- Support strategic sourcing activities and negotiate commercial terms that deliver value and reduce cost.
- Manage contract finalization, rate contracts, and agreement renewals, ensuring purchases are aligned to approved scope before purchase orders are released.
- Track and improve vendor performance on delivery timelines, quality, and service levels using structured scorecards and review meetings.
- Work closely with plant and engineering stakeholders to shorten the PR-to-PO process and improve planning through MRP-based coordination.
- Ensure purchase order accuracy, including correct scope, pricing, and reporting, with strong discipline in SAP-based procurement execution.
- Monitor open purchase orders, follow up on deliveries, and support on-time receipt and closure of goods and services.
- Carry out vendor due diligence through compliance platforms and close all identified gaps in line with internal procurement standards.
- Maintain adherence to supplier code requirements and other compliance expectations for all vendors and contracts.
- Support catalogue buying and standardization initiatives for procurement process improvement.
- Drive cost-saving opportunities through negotiation, sourcing strategy, and spend analysis, and ensure savings are captured and validated digitally.
- Help improve working capital by enforcing agreed payment terms and reducing dependency on non-PO invoices.
- Coordinate GRN follow-ups, invoice closure, and month-end procurement reporting for plant-wise performance analysis.
- Use procurement systems and analytics tools to support tracking, reporting, and process discipline.
Required experience and competencies
- Hands-on experience in MRO and Capex procurement, preferably in an FMCG or manufacturing setup.

- Working knowledge of SAP procurement processes, including PR, PO, GRN, and vendor management.
- Ability to manage compliance reviews, audit readiness, and supplier governance requirements.
- Familiarity with spend tracking, savings validation, and working capital improvement measures.
- Comfort working with plant and engineering teams in a stakeholder-heavy environment.
- Exposure to MRP planning tools, procurement analytics, and reporting dashboards.
- Experience with procurement of solar power purchase agreements, fuel/energy commodities such as diesel, and boiler feedstock materials like husk and briquettes is relevant.
Performance focus
- Reduce PR-to-PO lead time and improve overall procurement turnaround.
- Maintain high vendor performance ratings and strong contract spend coverage.
- Keep purchase order errors to a minimum and ensure compliance closure.
- Deliver measurable savings and working capital gains.
Systems and tools
- SAP for procurement transactions and vendor coordination.
- MRP planning tools for demand and purchase planning.
