The role also involves working closely with program offices, system owners, privacy staff, cybersecurity teams, and other stakeholders to keep compliance items accurate and up to date under federal and DHS requirements.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and refresh Privacy Impact Assessments, Privacy Threshold Analyses, and System of Records Notices.
- Assist with privacy compliance checks for federal systems, initiatives, programs, and data collection activities.
- Support ATO-related privacy documentation by examining system details, data flows, personally identifiable information, and compliance obligations.
- Draft, update, and coordinate Privacy Office Memoranda and related compliance documents.
- Examine program materials to spot privacy risks, data-handling issues, and required compliance actions.
- Work with federal stakeholders, system owners, information security teams, and program offices to collect the needed details.
- Monitor privacy deliverables, due dates, approvals, and document status.
- Help with privacy reporting, compliance tracking, and records management tasks.
- Make sure documents are accurate, consistent, well-written, and aligned with federal privacy policy.
- Provide general privacy support, including research, meeting prep, and action-item tracking.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience supporting the federal government as an employee, contractor, or consultant.
- Background in federal privacy, compliance, information governance, cybersecurity compliance, records management, or a related function.
- Practical familiarity with one or more privacy compliance documents such as PIAs, PTAs, SORNs, POMs, or ATO/privacy artifacts.
- Strong technical writing, editing, and document-review ability.
- Comfort gathering information from multiple stakeholders and turning it into clear compliance documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle several deadlines at once.
- Hands-on proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Professional communication skills for working with federal clients, contractors, and cross-functional teams.
Preferred Background
- Experience supporting DHS or one of its components.
- Prior work with privacy offices, cybersecurity groups, system owners, or compliance programs.
- Familiarity with the Privacy Act, E-Government Act, OMB privacy guidance, and DHS privacy policy.
- Experience reviewing system records, data flows, personally identifiable information handling, or records notices.
