Job description

Position Overview

The Pricer is responsible for assigning prices to donated merchandise in a way that helps the department achieve maximum value. This role also keeps goods moving onto the sales floor, supports seasonal sorting and storage, and reports to the Assistant Store Manager or Store Manager.

Role Summary

In this position, you will price items for assigned departments, maintain presentation standards on the sales floor, and help ensure customers have access to well-stocked, shoppable merchandise. The role is non-exempt.

Key Duties

  • Help the department meet sales goals by reviewing targets with the store manager and supervisor on a weekly basis.
  • Work to maintain the intended price point for each item using the price grid as a guide.
  • Sort, hang, and price donated merchandise for the assigned departments so the store is consistently supplied.
  • Place merchandise in the correct display areas on the sales floor.
  • Ensure there is an adequate daily flow of merchandise in line with performance expectations.
  • Keep the production area organized and make sure supplies and materials are replenished.
  • Raise or lower prices when needed to improve sell-through and capture the best possible value.
  • Keep the sales floor ready for shopping by rotating, balancing, and organizing seasonal merchandise.
  • Identify seasonal items, store them in labeled boxes, and maintain an adequate seasonal stock supply.
  • Provide customer service support when needed.
  • Carry out additional tasks and special assignments as directed, including work outside the primary area of employment.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate understands styles and trends, can judge merchandise quality, and is able to set competitive prices. You should also be able to assess what each department needs and contribute effectively as part of a team.

Experience and Work Style

Applicants should have experience working with a diverse workforce and be comfortable working with individuals who have developmental disabilities. Strong judgment, energy for fast-paced work, solid communication skills, and the ability to listen well are all important for success in this role.

Physical Requirements

This job is performed indoors in a production and retail setting. It requires regular speaking, hearing, standing, and moving throughout the store. The role involves frequent lifting and moving of up to 20 pounds, occasional exposure to dust from donations, and constant standing, bending, and stooping with occasional walking. Candidates must also be able to lift arms to shoulder height or above and push or pull clothing racks weighing up to 15 pounds.
