Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site position for a Policy Officer located in Saint Andrew, Jamaica. The role involves closely monitoring policy advancements, conducting thorough research on public sector matters, and critically analyzing legislation, regulations, and governmental initiatives. A key part of the job is to produce concise briefings, reports, and written content that clearly articulate policy implications for various public sector stakeholders. The Policy Officer will collaborate with internal teams and external parties to gather diverse perspectives, support editorial and strategic objectives, and contribute to the development of evidence-based recommendations. The position also entails monitoring significant government consultations, assisting with stakeholder outreach, and participating in events, interviews, and other policy-related activities as required.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Exceptional analytical and research capabilities for interpreting policy documents, data, and complex public sector issues.
  • Superior writing and communication skills, essential for crafting clear reports, briefings, and materials for stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, including the successful cultivation of productive relationships with government bodies, public sector organizations, and other partners.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Law, Economics, Social Sciences, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • A solid understanding of governmental structures, policy-making procedures, and public sector reform agendas.
  • The ability to work effectively on-site in Saint Andrew, Jamaica, manage multiple competing deadlines, and thrive in a dynamic, collaborative setting.
  • Proficiency with standard office software and research tools; prior experience with policy databases, data analysis software, or media monitoring tools is considered a valuable asset.
  • A firm commitment to impartial, evidence-based analysis and inclusive, non-partisan communication.
