Role overview
This full-time, on-site position is based in Winnipeg, MB. The plasterer will prepare surfaces by cleaning and leveling them before applying the correct base coats, then complete walls and ceilings with plaster or stucco to the required standards. The job includes mixing materials, fitting lath or mesh, spreading coats evenly, smoothing and sanding surfaces, and repairing cracks or other damage. The role also requires the ability to understand simple drawings or instructions, work safely from ladders or scaffolding, and keep tools and equipment in good working order. The plasterer will coordinate with supervisors and other trades on timing and site workflow while following all safety and quality requirements.
Responsibilities
- Prepare wall and ceiling surfaces by cleaning, leveling, and applying suitable base layers.
- Mix plaster, stucco, and related materials to the required consistency.
- Install lath or mesh where needed before finishing work begins.
- Apply plaster or stucco evenly and achieve the specified finish.
- Smooth, sand, and touch up surfaces to meet quality expectations.
- Repair cracks, damage, and other imperfections in finished areas.
- Read and follow basic drawings, plans, or job instructions.
- Work safely while using ladders, scaffolding, and other access equipment.
- Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition.
- Coordinate with supervisors and other trades to support scheduling and site coordination.
Qualifications
- Hands-on knowledge of plastering methods for interior walls and ceilings.
- Practical experience with stucco and other exterior finish systems.
- Strong focus on safe work habits and compliance with site safety rules.
- Capability to work on ceilings, including overhead finishing and repair tasks.
- Prior experience in plastering or a comparable construction finishing trade.
- Ability to interpret and act on basic construction plans and directions.
- Physical fitness to lift materials, remain on your feet for long periods, and work from ladders or scaffolding.
- Reliable transportation for travel to job sites in and around Winnipeg, Manitoba.
- Good attention to detail, time management, and the ability to work alone or with a team.
