Job description

Role overview

The Plant Manager will oversee the full spectrum of plant activities at the Blythewood, South Carolina facility. This includes labor relations, engineering, machining, fabrication, assembly, testing, equipment and building upkeep, quality, materials handling, and shipping and receiving.

Core responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate all plant functions so production goals are achieved at the lowest practical cost while still meeting quality expectations.
  • Build and sustain an effective workforce through hiring, training, compensation practices, and employee motivation.
  • Strengthen leadership capability across the organization by coaching, counseling, and developing managers for both immediate and long-term goals.
  • Define organizational structure and workforce staffing needs.
  • Lead more than 150 employees through a team of managers and supervisors.
  • Carry full plant-level responsibility for meeting or exceeding EBITDA targets and related business objectives.
  • Continuously review operational performance to confirm goals are being met, company and plant policies are followed, and corrective action is taken quickly when needed.
  • Own outcomes tied to cost, budget, production methods, quality, output volume, and personnel performance.
  • Make decisions related to production needs and plant equipment, including tooling design, work methods, and time standards.
  • Set performance benchmarks, track progress, manage workflow between departments, identify delays or serious issues, and implement corrective measures.
  • Create short- and long-range plans with appropriate controls to monitor status and trigger action when necessary.
  • Maintain strong safety standards throughout the facility.
  • Establish general procedures and policies within the role’s authority without needing prior approval, except where broader company policy or long-term planning is involved.
  • Handle other related assignments and special projects as required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in the automotive sector and knowledge of supply chain operations are preferred.
  • Strong analytical ability and solid organizational skills are essential.
  • High attention to detail and proficiency with Microsoft Office products are expected.
  • Must be able to supervise team members and delegate tasks directly.
  • Should be confident and self-directed while still able to accept direction and complete follow-through.
  • Professional certifications are an advantage.

Education and experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred.
  • A master’s degree is considered a plus.
  • At least 10 years of broad experience in engineering and manufacturing is required, including 5 or more years in a supervisory role.
  • Automotive industry experience is strongly required.

Travel

Less than 10% travel is expected.
