About the company
NZ Safety Blackwoods is a leading New Zealand provider of industrial and safety solutions, supported by a nationwide network of Trade Centres. The business focuses on delivering a strong customer experience while driving commercial results.
About the role
We are looking for a Planning & Ranging Specialist to join the Merchandising team in Auckland. This position centres on improving Trade Centre performance by creating and managing store layouts and planograms that make the best use of space, product assortment, and the customer journey. You will help keep store presentation consistent across the network and ensure layouts support category plans and wider business goals.
The role is suitable for a recent graduate in business, finance, or economics, or for someone with experience in in-store displays. Training will be provided where needed, including on Quant software.
Key responsibilities
- Create, update, and oversee planograms using Quant, with training provided on the platform.
- Improve product positioning, space use, and merchandising execution across stores.
- Assist with range reviews and manage planogram changes for new launches, product changes, and removals.
- Deliver store layout work for new store builds, refits, and transition projects.
- Share planogram changes and updates with Trade Centres and other relevant stakeholders.
- Keep planogram records, images, and system data accurate and up to date.
- Build reporting through Power BI and Quant to track performance, compliance, and space efficiency.
- Provide analysis and recommendations to support category and space-planning decisions.
- Help develop and roll out merchandising guidelines and display standards.
About you
- You are at graduate level and bring a strong sense of structure and attention to detail.
- You have experience in retail merchandising, space planning, or planogram work, or a willingness to learn these areas.
- You are comfortable using Power BI, or eager to build capability in it.
- You have solid analytical thinking and an understanding of how space is planned spatially.
- You work accurately and maintain a high standard of data quality.
- You can handle several priorities and work to deadlines.
- You communicate well and build effective working relationships with stakeholders.
Personal attributes
- Curious and focused on practical solutions.
- Team-oriented with a strong stakeholder mindset.
- Well organised and able to work in a structured way.
- Comfortable in a busy, fast-moving environment.
- Motivated by improving customer experience through smarter space planning.
Why join us
Join a leading New Zealand business with a nationwide footprint and become part of a collaborative, high-performing Merchandising team. You will work on meaningful projects across the Trade Centre network and have scope to contribute to improvement and innovation.
How to apply
If you are ready to take ownership of space planning and contribute to store performance across the network, this opportunity could be a great fit.
