Job description
Role overview
The Lambton Kent District School Board is seeking a Planning and Reporting Officer to support the Manager of Information Technology. This is a permanent, non-union position based at the Sarnia Education Centre, working 35 hours per week.
The successful candidate will help manage school data reporting, enrolment analytics, accommodation planning materials, and related administrative coordination. The role also involves supporting schools with student information system processes and assisting with Ministry reporting requirements.
Key duties
- Coordinate the gathering and submission of school data for Ministry reporting cycles and board financial reporting.
- Support OnSIS activities by training school staff, helping implement Ministry-directed updates, and completing board approval steps.
- Provide guidance to schools on collecting student information within the Board’s Student Information System when needed.
- Maintain data sets and perform analysis on enrolment forecasts and demographic trends using spreadsheets and database tools.
- Coordinate enrolment reporting for grant-related purposes, support training for school administrators on enrolment recording, and work with Ministry staff on enrolment questions and audits.
- Assist with accommodation planning by analyzing demographic impacts, updating school profile materials, and preparing reports and presentations using spreadsheets, charts, tables, diagrams, and maps.
- Attend evening meetings when required and travel across the district as needed.
- Carry out additional tasks assigned by the Manager of Information Technology.
Qualifications and experience
- A post-secondary diploma or degree is required; a background in business or information technology is considered an advantage.
- Equivalent education and experience in an educational environment may also be accepted.
- Strong working knowledge of OnSIS, Aspen, and Microsoft Office 365 is necessary.
- Familiarity with the Education Act and related legislation covering enrolment, course credits, and planning is expected.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities are needed to work effectively with staff at all levels and with the public.
- Strong presentation skills are required to deliver training workshops to school administrative staff, including principals and vice-principals.
- Highly developed organization, problem-solving, initiative, and time management skills are important for this position.
- Sound analytical and planning abilities with close attention to detail are essential.
- Prior experience in a similar position is an asset.
Compensation and benefits
This role is placed at Level 4 with an annual salary range of $96,137 to $106,819. A comprehensive benefits package and OMERS pension plan are included.
