Job description
Role Overview
This onsite planning and scheduling role supports Entergy Texas, Inc.-GTX in The Woodlands, Texas. The position is responsible for coordinating near-term work plans, keeping schedules aligned with available crews and materials, and ensuring contractor and operational work is ready to execute. Two openings are available for this role.
Key Duties
- Confirm next-day crew assignments, record non-working or unavailable time, open or cancel work orders, and alert relevant teams about overdue or due work.
- Work closely with operations, engineering, supply chain, project management, construction, major accounts, asset management, and the distribution operations center to coordinate contractor jobs, scope, readiness, packages, prerequisites, and material and time estimates.
- Track whether contractors are following the planned schedule and identify any deviations from assignment requirements.
- Build and refresh the two-week schedule using crew availability, validated backlog, and the quarterly plan, while also maintaining a three-week forecast.
- Review backlog items to identify new work orders and estimate possible start dates.
- Receive approved priority work to support contractor compliance and assignment planning.
- Group work efficiently and coordinate fleet and material planning.
- Apply the correct process for emergency or unplanned work and update schedules with the needed approvals.
- Screen and combine work orders for straightforward projects in Maximo, and manage work handoff for design engineering cases.
- Keep scheduled work current, resolve time-related conflicts, document schedule changes and their reasons, monitor closeout actions, and send reminders as needed.
- Find Click schedule issues, evaluate alternatives, and recommend ways to resolve or reduce conflicts.
- Support backlog control and work order closeout efforts with operations coordinators.
- Bring site readiness updates into the two-week plan.
- Revise schedules and work plans based on stakeholder input from weekly calls and outage planning discussions.
- Lead weekly scheduling meetings and midweek check-ins with local leadership and stakeholders.
- Participate as a member of the incident response team.
Minimum Qualifications
An associate degree or equivalent practical work experience is required.
Experience Needed
Planner/Scheduler I: 2 to 4 years of experience
Planner/Scheduler II: 4 to 6 years of experience
Skills and Abilities
The successful candidate should be able to manage several responsibilities at once, work effectively across different organizational levels, communicate clearly in writing and verbally, stay organized and analytical, and bring experience or training in planning and scheduling. Strong computer skills, good judgment, flexibility when priorities change, the ability to work under pressure, and a dependable team-oriented attitude are also important.
Work Environment and Additional Terms
This is a professional, non-bargaining unit role based in The Woodlands, Texas, with no relocation assistance offered. Travel may be required up to 25% of the time.
