Job description
Role overview
This role sits within Singapore’s strategic planning function, where long-range land use plans help shape the country’s physical growth. You will contribute to reviewing and refreshing the Long Term Land Use Plan, taking into account shifts in demand and major themes such as mobility, housing, ageing, sustainability, and environmental effects.
What you will do
You will support the creation of strategic land use and infrastructure plans that steer Singapore’s development over the long term. The work also includes drafting and refining land use policies, converting them into practical planning guidelines, and helping ensure they can be implemented effectively.
A key part of the role is using GIS tools and building planning-analysis applications. You will also conduct research on urban development topics, with an emphasis on using land efficiently, aligning land use with transport planning, and supporting environmental planning.
Requirements
The team is looking for someone with relevant exposure in urban and regional planning, civil engineering, transport planning, environmental studies, building, real estate, or geography. A genuine interest in Singapore’s physical urban development is important, along with the ability to turn data into clear insights.
You should have 2 to 3 years of experience in policy research, review, and policy formulation. Strong analytical and writing skills are needed, as well as confident presentation and communication abilities. Practical knowledge of GIS is expected. Candidates who learn quickly and show strong commitment will have an added advantage. You must be comfortable working on your own as well as collaborating within a team.
Additional information
The role is focused on optimising land use and supporting the integration of land use with transportation and environmental planning to help build a liveable, economically strong, and resilient Singapore.
