Job Role: Pig Farm Operative
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Pig Farm Operative to join a progressive pig farming enterprise based in North Tipperary/Offaly. The successful candidate will play an important role in the daily care and management of livestock, ensuring high standards of animal welfare, health, and productivity are maintained at all times.
The Role
The key responsibilities for this job include the daily care and monitoring of pigs across various production stages. This involves feeding, watering, and observing livestock to ensure optimum health and welfare. You will carry out routine pig husbandry tasks, including handling, moving, and treating animals as required, and assist with loading and unloading pigs safely and efficiently. Maintaining clean and hygienic housing facilities in line with biosecurity protocols is crucial. You will also be responsible for recording and reporting health, performance, and production information, and supporting breeding, farrowing, weaning, and finishing operations. Operating farm equipment and machinery safely and adhering to all farm health and safety procedures are also key duties.
The Applicant
Essential requirements include a minimum of 2 years' experience in pig farming or a similar livestock environment. Strong pig husbandry skills and a solid understanding of animal welfare standards are necessary. Experience in droving and safe livestock handling, as well as experience with loading livestock, is required. The ideal candidate will possess an excellent work ethic, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Good communication skills and attention to detail are also important.

This is a permanent, full-time position. A competitive hourly rate of €15–€18 per hour will be offered, depending on experience.
