Role overview
Miller Waste Systems is hiring a full-time Picker for its Dartmouth, Nova Scotia location at 8 Moore Road. This is a permanent position reporting to the Route Supervisor, with an immediate start available. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, beginning at 6:00 AM.

Position summary
The Picker will be responsible for the safe and efficient collection of commercial waste streams. The role contributes to public health by ensuring service is completed on time, safety and environmental rules are followed, and the public is treated respectfully.
Responsibilities
- Follow all Miller Waste safety procedures and remain familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Deliver dependable, high-quality service to customers, since correct waste disposal is important to the well-being of the community.
- Gather different waste streams and transport them appropriately to transfer stations, composting facilities, or landfill locations.
- Work to schedule while complying with company policies and procedures, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Human Rights Code, Ministry of Environment requirements, and municipal by-laws.
Working conditions
- Availability for 48 hours per week is required.
- The role involves standing for long periods.
- Start and finish times may change, so flexibility is essential.
- Work may occasionally include statutory holidays and weekends.
- The job is physically demanding and requires lifting up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
- Strong written and verbal communication is necessary.
- Applicants should be energetic, productive, safety-minded, and comfortable working as part of a team.
- Customer service experience is an advantage.
