Role overview
Rentokil Initial is seeking a practical, dependable Pest Control Technician to support customers across Northland. This hands-on position suits someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes initiative, and can stay ahead of pest issues by providing proactive service and informed guidance. The role is based in Whangārei and runs Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend rosters and varying start times.
You will travel throughout the Northland region, including the route from Kaiwaka to Kaitaia and nearby areas, using a company-provided vehicle to manage daily visits. The company uses skills-based hiring, so relevant experience is not mandatory if you can demonstrate the abilities needed for the job.

Key duties
- Inspect customer sites carefully to spot pest activity and determine the right treatment approach
- Carry out pest control treatments and give customers practical advice on prevention and ongoing management
- Look for hygiene and environmental risks that may affect safety and wellbeing
- Prepare accurate digital service reports after each visit
- Provide professional, high-quality customer service at every interaction
- Spot opportunities to recommend additional services that could benefit the customer

Eligibility and work rights
Applicants must already have full-time, permanent work rights in New Zealand and must be able to live and work there permanently. The role also requires a full, clean driver’s licence and a clean criminal record.
Additional desirable experience
- New Zealand Certificate in Pest Operations - Urban Pest Control
- Current New Zealand firearms licence
- Experience with working at heights and elevated work platforms, along with the relevant licences
- Ability to drive a manual vehicle
