Job description
About Officeworks
Officeworks is a fast-moving, inventive and energetic workplace with a strong focus on customers, team members and community. With nearly 10,000 people across Australia and more than 173 retail stores, the business is centred on low prices, broad range, great service and continuous improvement. The culture encourages fresh thinking, teamwork, humour, support and making a positive impact.
About the Role
Officeworks is seeking a People Systems Specialist to join the People & Culture team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The position can be performed remotely or by candidates located locally in Chadstone, Victoria.
This role sits within People Systems and is centred on improving how payroll-related systems support outcomes. It does not own payroll processing or core system configuration, as those responsibilities sit with Technology. Instead, the role bridges payroll knowledge and system optimisation to ensure the platforms are used effectively, improved continuously and aligned with business and compliance needs.
You will help refine system processes, spot automation opportunities and make sure payroll functionality within SAP SuccessFactors EC/ECP and Kronos is working efficiently. Working with Payroll, Technology and broader People teams, you will translate payroll needs into scalable system solutions and better user experiences.
You will also own Position Management and organisational structure in SuccessFactors, maintaining the accuracy, governance and alignment of positions and reporting lines to support workforce planning, reporting and payroll outcomes.
This is a practical, hands-on position for someone who understands payroll deeply but wants to improve systems, processes and outcomes rather than run payroll operations directly.
About You
You bring specialist experience in people systems and payroll platforms, especially EC/ECP and Kronos. You understand payroll concepts such as awards, enterprise agreements and legislative requirements, and you know how they connect with system workflows, while keeping your focus on system improvement.
You are inquisitive, proactive in finding inefficiencies and comfortable working across teams to strengthen processes, controls and system capability.
Core Experience and Expertise
- Practical experience using SAP SuccessFactors (EC/ECP) and/or Kronos in a systems-oriented role
- Solid knowledge of payroll processes, awards and enterprise agreements
- Experience managing Position Management and organisational structures in SuccessFactors, including governance and data quality
- Ability to convert payroll and business needs into system enhancements
- Background in identifying and delivering process improvements, automation and efficiency gains in HR/payroll systems
- Strong emphasis on data integrity, system controls and continuous improvement
- Capability to investigate and help resolve system issues that affect payroll outcomes
Highly Regarded
- Experience in large, complex or operational environments
- Exposure to HRIS or payroll implementations and system transformation projects
- Experience collaborating across People Systems, Payroll and Technology teams
- Qualifications in HR, Business Systems, IT, Accounting or a related discipline
Benefits and Culture
