About Horizon3.ai
Horizon3.ai is a rapidly expanding cybersecurity company operating fully remotely. The company helps organizations uncover, repair, and validate exploitable attack paths before threat actors can take advantage of them. Its main product, NodeZero, performs autonomous penetration testing and related assessments in a production-safe way across large internal, external, cloud, and hybrid-cloud environments.
NodeZero is used by organizations ranging from small educational institutions to government bodies and Global 100 enterprises, as well as IT Ops/SecOps teams, consulting pentesters, MSSPs, and MSPs.
The team combines former U.S. Special Operations cyber professionals, startup engineers and operators, and experienced cybersecurity practitioners. The culture emphasizes respect, collaboration, ownership, results, and continuous learning.
Role Summary
The People Operations Specialist will be responsible for building a strong employee experience in a fast-moving environment. This position owns onboarding and offboarding programs end to end, supports compliance activities, and provides day-to-day help across HR systems, benefits, and broader people operations.
You will partner closely with the People team to streamline operations and create scalable processes for a growing global workforce. The ideal person is highly organized, proactive, resourceful, and comfortable handling unfamiliar situations with confidence.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will improve onboarding and offboarding experiences, support compliance workflows, and manage employee support processes. You will also contribute to HR systems administration, reporting, and operational improvement projects.
Onboarding, Offboarding, and Compliance
- Lead and continuously refine the new-hire onboarding program so every employee has a consistent, welcoming, and high-impact start.
- Coordinate closely with IT, Facilities, and hiring managers to make onboarding smooth, including device setup, system access, and team integration.
- Work with Learning and Development to build engaging onboarding content and materials such as presentations, documentation, and feedback mechanisms that improve the program over time.
- Handle background screening, work authorization documentation (I-9), and other required records in the HRIS with careful attention to accuracy and compliance.
- Manage the full offboarding process by aligning with IT, Payroll, and other partners to ensure a clean and respectful employee exit.
- Run compliance training programs in EasyLlama, including scheduling, learning-path setup, and tracking/reporting completions.
- Coordinate the HR compliance portfolio by completing periodic audits that support annual EEOC reporting, SOC II, CES, and other customer, state, or regulatory obligations.
Employee Support and Operations
- Oversee the HR Service Desk and HR AI bot by responding to inquiries, spotting recurring issues, and improving automation so more questions can be handled without manual support.
- Maintain employee records and administer workflows and reporting in Rippling.
- Respond promptly to unemployment claims and employment-verification requests.
- Identify operational gaps early, propose scalable fixes, and contribute to People Ops initiatives and additional duties as needed.
What We're Looking For
- At least 2 years of experience in People Operations, HR Generalist, Recruiting Operations, or Benefits Coordinator roles, preferably in a startup or fast-growing company.
- Practical experience with tools such as Rippling, Lattice, Ashby (ATS), Checkr, EasyLlama, Confluence, or similar platforms.
- A self-directed mindset with the ability to solve problems quickly and prioritize well in a fast-paced setting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the flexibility to adjust communication style for different audiences.
- Excellent organization and a strong eye for detail.
- Ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
- A willingness to jump in wherever needed in a broad generalist role and close gaps without waiting for direction.
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting remote, globally distributed teams and building people programs that strengthen connection, engagement, and employee experience across time zones.
- Hands-on work with AI or automation, such as building time-saving workflows, developing an AI-powered onboarding tool, or eliminating manual processes through scripting.
Compensation
The base salary range for this role is $85,000 to $110,000 per year. Final compensation will depend on the selected candidate’s location, qualifications, experience, and relevant skills.
This position may also include an equity package in the form of stock options. Any additional compensation or benefits will be discussed during the interview process.
Benefits and Perks
- Inclusive team culture that values diversity and belonging.
- Career growth opportunities within a fast-moving and expanding organization.
- Creative, collaborative environment that encourages innovation.
- Fully remote work with flexibility to work in the way that suits you best.
- Competitive compensation and benefits, including health, vision, and dental coverage for you and your family.
- Flexible vacation policy.
- Generous parental leave.
Equal Opportunity and Inclusion
The company is committed to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace. Candidates are welcomed regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, genetic information, marital status, hair length, or any other legally protected status.
Applicants from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply, and the organization values the unique perspectives each team member brings.
