Role overview

Model N is looking for a meticulous, service-minded People Operations Specialist to help run essential HR operations throughout the employee journey. This role handles day-to-day people processes, supports employees and managers with questions, and ensures service is delivered in a timely, accurate, and consistent way.

The right person will have hands-on experience in HR operations, employee lifecycle support, and Workday transaction processing. Success in this role requires comfort following established procedures, collaborating across functions, and maintaining strong standards for accuracy, responsiveness, and employee experience in a fast-moving environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Handle Tier 1 and Tier 2 HR operations questions, resolve standard issues, and route more complex matters to the appropriate partners.
  • Support employee lifecycle activity such as onboarding, role changes, exits, terminations, and employee record documentation.
  • Complete HR requests and transactions with accuracy, speed, and alignment to defined processes and service standards.
  • Work closely with Payroll, IT, Legal, Talent Acquisition, and other teams to solve operational issues and keep services running smoothly.
  • Provide timely, considerate, and consistent support that strengthens the employee experience.
  • Look for opportunities to improve processes, reduce manual effort, and increase service quality within People Operations.
  • Analyze workflows and transaction trends to spot issues and support improvements, including automation and system updates.
  • Help test, validate, and roll out process or system changes with HRIS and People Operations leaders.
  • Maintain job aids, process guides, and knowledge resources that help employees and managers self-serve.
  • Support ongoing upkeep and improvement of Harper, the company’s HR AI and knowledge platform, by keeping content current and useful and by identifying content gaps and recurring question themes.
  • Escalate policy, process, or system issues appropriately and contribute to practical long-term fixes.
  • Assist with recurring HR programs and operations such as performance cycles, policy updates, compliance work, and training-related activities.
  • Support audit preparation, documentation collection, and compliance reporting.
  • Perform periodic audits of HR data and operational processes to help ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with internal policies and applicable laws.
  • Maintain strong organization, accuracy, and follow-through across all assigned work.
  • Coordinate onboarding for new U.S.-based hires and help deliver a smooth, timely first-day experience.
  • Partner with internal teams to support onboarding workflows, improve consistency, and ensure completion of onboarding documents, system access setup, and I-9 compliance steps.
  • Identify ways to reduce friction and improve the onboarding process.
  • Assist with immigration tracking and coordination in collaboration with outside immigration counsel and internal stakeholders.
  • Keep records current for visa status, expiration dates, and filing timelines.
  • Coordinate employee communications and documentation tied to immigration deadlines and processes.
  • Help support immigration-related compliance requirements and reporting obligations.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in People Operations, HR operations, HR shared services, or HR systems support.
  • Proven experience handling employee lifecycle transactions and HR operations in a fast-paced setting.
  • Practical experience with Workday HCM, including transaction handling, business process execution, and data auditing.
  • Experience managing HR requests and employee questions with strong attention to detail and good judgment.
  • Experience supporting HR compliance work, audits, and operational reporting.
  • Strong organizing, analysis, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information carefully and discreetly.
  • A strong service mindset with an employee-first approach.
  • Experience with U.S. onboarding and I-9 employment eligibility verification requirements.
  • Immigration coordination experience and exposure to immigration counsel is preferred.
  • Experience using HR service delivery or ticketing tools such as Jira is preferred.
  • Experience supporting HR knowledge management platforms, AI-enabled service tools, or employee self-service technologies is preferred.

Compensation

The base pay for this position is $85,000 to $102,000 per year. Final compensation depends on relevant experience, education and/or certifications, location, training, and other skills. Candidates whose expectations fall outside this range are still encouraged to apply and discuss options with the recruiting team.
