Job description

About Loot Labs

Loot Labs is building a more exciting way for people to collect. The company believes every collectible carries a story tied to passion, nostalgia, and discovery. Its flagship product, Boxed.gg, combines digital entertainment with physical rewards to bring that sense of discovery directly to fans.

The business has a community-driven culture, with service to 500,000 collectors and an active Discord community of more than 125,000 members. The leadership team includes veterans from Microsoft, Twitch, 2K, and Boeing. Loot Labs operates with a remote-first mindset, valuing autonomy, low ego, and the ability to contribute from anywhere.

Founded in 2023, the company has already delivered strong year-over-year growth and is preparing for a major expansion across its products, partnerships, and collector experiences.

Role Overview

Loot Labs is looking for a People Operations Manager to help build the systems and structure that will support the company as it scales. This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys both owning day-to-day People operations and creating better processes for the future.

You will work closely with the Head of People to execute People programs, manage core operational areas such as onboarding, payroll, benefits, and compliance, and improve the overall employee experience. The role spans the organization and calls for someone who can serve as a dependable partner to employees and managers while helping define the long-term direction of the People function.

This role suits someone who prefers building from the ground up, shaping culture through process, and growing with a fast-scaling company.

Location and Work Arrangement

This is a remote role, with North America preferred. Occasional travel within the U.S. is required for in-person collaboration, team offsites, and company events. Candidates must be able to overlap with US Pacific Time by at least 5 hours, within the 9:00am–6:00pm PT window.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute People programs from start to finish by designing the process, documenting it, launching it, training managers, and running it consistently over time.
  • Identify weaknesses in onboarding, offboarding, and broader employee lifecycle workflows, then build scalable improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and employee experience.
  • Own onboarding as a core program, including pre-boarding, first-day experience, and early ramp, while keeping it consistent and continuously improving it as the company grows.
  • Manage offboarding with the same level of care, structure, and consistency.
  • Run payroll operations end to end with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, compliance, and stronger controls as the company scales.
  • Handle benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, daily support, and serving as the main contact for employee benefits questions.
  • Oversee leave and accommodation cases from intake through coordination and documentation, ensuring a smooth employee experience.
  • Maintain HRIS accuracy, completeness, and audit readiness while using reporting and analytics to identify trends and improve processes.
  • Act as a reliable partner for employees and managers, improving self-service resources so People operations can scale effectively.
  • Monitor compliance and address day-to-day issues early so they do not develop into larger problems.

What Success Looks Like

  • Employee sentiment improves, with eNPS serving as an important indicator of success.
  • Employees and managers receive accurate, friendly support and treat the People team as a trusted partner.
  • Payroll, benefits, leave, and HRIS operations run reliably and accurately with minimal oversight.
  • People programs improve over time, leaving systems and processes stronger than before.
  • Onboarding and offboarding remain consistent, high-quality, and scalable as the company expands.
  • Potential issues are identified early and surfaced appropriately rather than being hidden in routine work.

What We’re Looking For

  • A practical builder who enjoys creating and improving processes at every stage.
  • Proven experience across the full People Ops scope, including benefits, onboarding, payroll, compliance, and leave administration.
  • Ability to serve as a trusted partner to employees and managers at all levels.
  • Strong judgment in employee relations, including knowing when to resolve an issue independently and when to escalate it.
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS tools, people data, reporting, and audit readiness.
  • A solid understanding of employment law and payroll compliance for a company of this size.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $85,000 to $125,000 per year.

Additional Information

The company operates with a remote-first culture and expects occasional U.S. travel for collaboration and events. Candidates should be able to maintain at least 5 hours of overlap with Pacific Time.
